  1. 1. Low-Power Low-Jitter Clock Generation and Distribution

    Author : Behzad Mesgarzadeh; Atila Alvandpour; Thucydides Xanthopoulos; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low-power; resonant clock distribution; injection locking; DLL-based clock generation; jitter suppression; CMOS; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : Today’s microprocessors with millions of transistors perform high-complexitycomputing at multi-gigahertz clock frequencies. Clock generation and clockdistribution are crucial tasks which determine the overall performance of amicroprocessor. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Signal Processing Approach to Practical Neurophysiology : A Search for Improved Methods in Clinical Routine and Research

    Author : Björn Hammarberg; Dick Stegeman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systemteknik; matched filter; asynchronous detection; Kalman filter; initialization; MHT; Wiener deconvolution; line source model; electromyography; needle EMG; motor unit potential; MUAP; mean fiber concentration; jitter; microneurography; C-fiber; spike sorting; Systemteknik; Systems engineering; Systemteknik; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Signal processing within the neurophysiological field is challenging and requires short processing time and reliable results. In this thesis, three main problems are considered.First, a modified line source model for simulation of muscle action potentials (APs) is presented. READ MORE

  3. 3. Office work and physical factors : health aspects of electromagnetic fields and light

    Author : Monica Sandström; Kjell Hansson Mild; Gunnar Nordberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Facial skin symptoms; office illness; electrical hypersensitivity; physical environment; flicker; jitter; neurophysiological effects;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis is to increase our knowledge of the physical environment of office workers with special focus on electromagnetic fields and to address the question of whether electromagnetic fields can directly or indirectly contribute to symptoms or discomfort among video display terminal ( VDT) workers. Furthermore, we have measured light modulation from various commonly used light sources in laboratory conditions and, as a second step, used modulated light as stimulus for provocation of neurophysiological responses in persons with perceived “electrical hypersensitivity” (EHS). 5. 5. Emittance preservation and luminosity tuning in future linear colliders

    Author : Peder Eliasson; Tord Ekelöf; Grahame Blair; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; linear colliders; CLIC; ILC; emittance preservation; luminosity tuning; beam-based alignment; dispersion free steering; tuning bumps; trajectory feedback; static imperfections; dynamic imperfections; jitter; ground motion; ATL model; multi-pulse emittance; curved tunnel; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Abstract : The future International Linear Collider (ILC) and Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) are intended for precision measurements of phenomena discovered at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and also for the discovery of new physics. In order to offer optimal conditions for such experiments, the new colliders must produce very-high-luminosity collisions at energies in the TeV regime. READ MORE
