  2. 2. Wrist and thumb joint postures and motions: Measurements using electrogoniometry and EMG

    Author : Per Jonsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wrist joint; Finger joint; Electromyography; Accuracy; Electrogoniometry; Input device; Information and communication technology; Mobile phone; Muscle activity; Posture; Thumb; Wrist;

    Abstract : Correct measurements of the joints’ extreme postures, velocity and repetitiveness are important for studies of the origin of musculoskeletal disorders. Posture measurements of wrist and thumb joints may also provide insights into input device designs that may reduce effort and/or facilitate productivity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Investigation of asphalt compaction in vision of improving asphalt pavements

    Author : Ehsan Ghafoori Roozbahany; Manfred N. Partl; Gabriele Tebaldi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cold asphalt pavement joints; asphalt joint laboratory production; IDT joint evaluation; DTT joint evaluation; 4PB joint evaluation; joints FEM analysis. Discrete Element Modeling DEM ; X-ray Computed Tomography CT ; Compaction Flow Test CFT ; Compactability;

    Abstract : Asphalt joints are potentially weakest parts of every pavement. Despite of their importance, reliable tools for measuring their mechanical properties for design and performance assessments are still scarce. READ MORE

  4. 4. A sensory role for the cruciate ligaments : regulation of joint stability via reflexes onto the γ-muscle-spindle system

    Author : Per Sjölander; Håkan Johansson; Uwe Windhorst; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Joint afferent; Mechanoreceptor; Cruciate ligament; Fusimotor neuron; reflex; muscle spindle afferent; motor control; cat;

    Abstract : Reflex effects evoked by graded electrical stimulation of the posterior articular nerves (PAN) of the ipsi- and contralateral knee joints were investigated using both micro-electrode recordings from 7 - motoneurones and recordings from single muscle muscle spindle afferents. Spindle afferent responses were also recorded using natural stimulation of different types of receptors, to elucidate if the articular reflexes onto the y -motoneurones were potent enough to significantly alter the muscle spindle afferent activity. 5. 5. Knee and ankle kinesiology and joint instability

    Author : Håkan Gauffin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This study, comprising 7 separate papers, is concerned with the additional information supplied by a kinesiological approach for evaluation of patients with instability due to old ligamenta us injury to the knee or ankle joint. This approach required development of new methods for kinesiological analysis. READ MORE
