1. Source-Channel Coding in Networks
Abstract : The aim of source coding is to represent information as accurately as possible using as few bits as possible and in order to do so redundancy from the source needs to be removed. The aim of channel coding is in some sense the contrary, namely to introduce redundancy that can be exploited to protect the information when being transmitted over a nonideal channel. READ MORE

2. Joint Source-Channel Coding using Trellis Coded CPM
Abstract : The thesis investigates Joint Source and Channel Coding(JSCC) using combined Trellis Coded Quantization (TCQ) and coded modulation. First we investigate a JSCC scheme using combined TCQ/Trellis Coded CPM (TCQ/TCCPM). Based on the BCJR algorithm for trellis coded CPM, we derive an optimal soft decoding algorithm for the considered systems. READ MORE

4. On the Design of Error Control Coding for Wireless Communication Systems
Abstract : New wireless services such as mobile Internet, multimedia streaming and high speed packet data access are making their way to the market. Availability of low-cost equipment providing high transmission quality and efficient spectrum utilization is crucial to the success of these services. READ MORE

5. Low-delay sensing and transmission
Abstract : This thesis studies cooperative sensing and transmission in the context ofwireless sensor networks (WSNs). We especially focus on two means of cooperative sensing and transmission, namely, distributed source coding and relaying. READ MORE
