  1. 1. Convection-diffusion-reaction models of sedimentation : Numerical approximation, analysis of solutions and inverse problems

    Author : Julio Careaga; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The core of this Doctoral thesis is mainly based in the studies of one-dimensional initial-boundary value problems, which are given by a single non-linear hyperbolic partial differential equation (PDE) with non-convex flux function, or by a system of strongly degenerate parabolic PDEs, for the simulation of sedimentation processes of solid particles immersed in a fluid. Particular attention is paid to the case of settling in vessels with varying cross-sectional area. READ MORE

  2. 2. Immunological aspects of intratumoral chemotherapy and immunotherapy in malignant brain tumors

    Author : Julio Enriquez Perez; Neurokirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioblastoma GBM ; Immunotherapy; Mouse glioma; Convection-enhanced delivery; Intratumoral chemotherapy; Glioblastom; Immuneterapi;

    Abstract : Advances in surgery, chemo- and radiotherapy have only modestly improved survival rates of malignant brain tumor patients during the last decades. Emerging evidence suggests that an efficient treatment of malignant brain tumors will likely require the management of multiple aspects of tumor pathobiology in order to manipulate features as tumor heterogeneity and tumor immunosuppression. 3. 3. Designing for Usable Privacy and Transparency in Digital Transactions

    Author : Julio Angulo; John Sören Pettersson; Simone Fischer-Hübner; Erik Wästlund; Joachim Meyer; Karlstads universitet; []

    Abstract : People engage with multiple online services and carry out a range of different digital transactions with these services. Registering an account, sharing content in social networks, or requesting products or services online are a few examples of such digital transactions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Usable privacy for digital transactions : Exploring the usability aspects of three privacy enhancing mechanisms

    Author : Julio Angulo; John Sören Pettersson; Simone Fischer-Hübner; Erik Wästlund; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Privacy-Enhancing Technologies; usability; usable privacy; mental models; mobile devices; security; digital transactions; e-commerce; User Interfaces; Information Systems; Informatik;

    Abstract : The amount of personal identifiable information that people distribute over different online services has grown rapidly and considerably over the last decades. This has led to increased probabilities for identity theft, profiling and linkability attacks, which can in turn not only result in a threat to people’s personal dignity, finances, and many other aspects of their lives, but also to societies in general. 5. 5. Pyrolysis profiles and global kinetics of tropical biomass : coconut and cashew nut shells

    Author : Alberto Júlio Tsamba; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermogravimetry; cashew nut cocnut shells; pyrolysis; kinetics; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Biomass has been recognised as renewable and environmentally friendly source of energy since decades. Tropical biomasses which are available in large quantities as residues in Latin America, Africa and Asia, have high energy potential for exploitation through thermochemical conversion process, as pyrolysis, gasification or combustion.
