  1. 1. Charged kaon and proton production in B-hadron decays

    Author : Fredrik Tegenfeldt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiation sciences; Högenergifysik; LEP; DELPHI; B-hadron; proton; kaon; Strålningsvetenskap; Radiation biology; Strålningsbiologi; High Energy Physics; Högenergifysik;

    Abstract : The production of charged kaons and protons in B-hadron decays has been measured in e+e- annihilations at centre-of-mass energies corresponding to the Z0 mass. In total 1.6 million hadronic Z0 decays were analysed, corresponding to about 690000 B-hadron decays. READ MORE

    Abstract : The five different K -> 3 Pi and the three K -> 2 Pi decays are calculated in Chiral Perturbation Theory. The calculation is done using different approximations, to study whether this changes the result significantly. First the isospin approximation is used. Discrepancies are then found between theory and experiment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pion and Kaon Dynamics at Higher Orders in Chiral Perturbation Theory

    Author : Pierre Dhonte; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; gravitation; chiral perturbation theory; strong interactions; pseudo-scalar mesons; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; form factors; scattering; classical mechanics; relativity; quantum mechanics; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Dhonte;

    Abstract : Higher orders calculations of processes involving the pion and kaon pseudo-scalar mesons are presented in the framework of three flavour Chiral Perturbation Theory. The purpose is two-fold. First determining the low energy constants of ChPT that are necessary for higher accuracy predictions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Meson Decay with Isospin Breaking At Two Loops

    Author : Karim Ghorbani; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kvantfältteori; Elementarpartikelfysik; quantum field theory; Elementary particle physics; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; hadron physics; standard model; chiral Lagrangian; quantum correction;

    Abstract : In all calculations done in this thesis, the evaluation of higher order quantum corrections has been central. In the first paper included in this thesis we have investigated the effects of finite volume meson propagators for quark-antiquark vacuum expectation value at two-loop level. READ MORE

  5. 5. A Study of Number-Ratio Fluctuations in Gold-Gold Interactions at sqrt(s_NN)=200 GeV

    Author : Eva Haslum; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fluctuations; Heavy-Ion Collisions; PHENIX; RHIC;

    Abstract : The properties of the basic building blocks of nuclear matter, the quarks, and their interactions are not known in detail, largely because observations are complicated by the confinement of quarks in composite particles. New insights can be gained from the study of nuclear matter in a deconfined phase, like the form of matter that the Universe consited of early in its evolution according to the Big Bang theory.
