  1. 1. N-Heterocyclic Carbene-Phosphine Iridium Catalyzed Alkylation Reactions and Asymmetric Hydrogenation of Ketones

    Author : Sutthichat Kerdphon; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C-C coupling reactions; hydrogen transfer; iridium; ketones; methylation;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on hydrogen transfer reactions using N-heterocyclic carbenephosphine iridium catalysts and is divided in two parts. The first part describes the use of achiral N-heterocyclic carbene-phosphine iridium complexes catalyzing the methylation of ketones and alkylation of amides using alcohols as the electrophile. Abstract : Methods have been studied for the production of chiral alcohols, which are of importance in organic synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agro-chemicals and fragrances, etc., through the enzymatic or microbial reduction of ketones. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development of organocatalytic asymmetric transformations

    Author : Ismail Ibrahem; Armando Cordova; Stephen Hanessian; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymmetric Catalysis; α-amino acids; Aldehydes; Ketones; α-Aminomethylation; Aziridination; Hydrophosphination; Diarylprolinol; Proline derivatives; Organic synthesis; Organisk syntes; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The ability of amino acids and amino acid derivatives to mediate various organocatalytic asymmetric transformations has been investigated and applied in the development of various reactions. This work describes the development of a direct catalytic asymmetric α-aminomethylation of ketones and aldehydes, a catalytic asymmetric aziridination, hydrophosphination and amination of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes. 4. 4. Asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones : Catalyst development and mechanistic investigation

    Author : Katrin Ahlford; Hans Adolfsson; Martin Wills; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymmetric catalysis; reduction; amino acid; rhodium; mechanistic investigation; kinetic study; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The development of ligands derived from natural amino acids for asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of prochiral ketones is described herein. In the first part, reductions performed in alcoholic media are examined, where it is found that amino acid-derived hydroxamic acids and thioamides, respectively, are simple and versatile ligands that in combination with [RhCp*Cl2]2 efficiently catalyze this particular transformation. 5. 5. Mechanistic Studies on Ruthenium-Catalyzed Hydrogen Transfer Reactions

    Author : Jenny B. Åberg; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Charles P. Casey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mechanistic studies; catalysis; ruthenium; hydrogen transfer; racemization; transfer hydrogenation; alcohols; ketones; amines; imines; inner-sphere; outer-sphere; solvent cage effect; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Mechanistic studies on three different ruthenium-based catalysts have been performed. The catalysts have in common that they have been employed in hydrogen transfer reactions involving alcohols and ketones, amines and imines or both. READ MORE
