  1. 16. Ultra-Reliable Short-Packet Communications: Fundamental Limits and Enabling Technologies

    Author : Johan Östman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ultra-reliable low-latency; variablelength stop-feedback; imperfect CSI; channel estimation; HARQ.; joint detection and decoding; short packets; Block-fading channels; multiuser massive MIMO;

    Abstract : The paradigm shift from 4G to 5G communications, anticipated to enable ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), will enforce a radical change in the design of wireless communication systems. Unlike in 4G systems, where the main objective is to provide a large transmission rate, in URLLC, as implied by its name, the objective is to enable transmissions with low latency and, simultaneously, very high reliability. Abstract : In the past decade, cooperative communications has been emerging as a pertinent technology for the current and upcoming generations of mobile communication infrastructure. The indispensable benefits of this technology have motivated numerous studies from both academia and industry on this area. READ MORE

  4. 19. Synthesis of a key derivative of glycosylphosphatidylinositol substances and synthesis of spacer glycosides for use in the formation of glycoconjugates and of self-assembled monolayer surfaces

    Author : Liselotte Öhberg; Thomas Norberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The first chapter of this thesis describes glycosylation strategies for obtaining derivatives of 2-amino-2-deoxy-a-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6)-D-myo-inositol, a key building block for synthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor substances and also proposed to be part of a second messenger for insulin.The second chapter describes the synthesis of bifunctional oligoethylene glycol spacers and glycosylation of these for use in formation of glycoconjugates. 5. 20. Past dynamics of a marine-terminating glacier in lower Borgarfjörður, west Iceland - Analyses of glaciotectonic sediments and landforms

    Author : Thorbjorg Sigfusdottir; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; glacier dynamics; marine-terminating glacier; glaciomarine processes; thrust-block moraines; glaciotectonics; micromorphology; Early Holocene; Late Weichselian; Iceland;

    Abstract : Large and complete sections through glacial landforms formed in subaqueous environments are rare, impeding our knowledge of their internal composition and the processes responsible for their formation. Following the last deglaciation of the Icelandic Ice Sheet (IIS), a marine-terminating outlet glacier advanced out of the fjord of Borgarfjörður resulting in large-scale glaciotectonic deformation of glaciomarine sediments.
