  1. 11. Prognostic markers in prostate cancer : studies of a watchful waiting cohort with long follow up

    Author : Andreas Josefsson; Anders Bergh; Pernilla Wikström; Pär Stattin; Anders Bjartell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; Immunohistochemistry; Prognostic markers; biomarkers; Survival analysis; human; pathology; watchful waiting; tissue micro array; Endoglin; von willebrandt factor; ki67; ki-67; hyaluronan; patologi; Pathology;

    Abstract : Background: Prostate Cancer (PC) is a common and highly variable disease. Using current diagnostic methods, the prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test and histological grading of prostate tissue needle biopsies, it is often difficult to evaluate whether the patient has a PC that requires active treatment or not. 2. 12. Leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domain (LRIG) proteins : possible prognostic markers in vulvar squamous cell carcinoma, endometrial carcinoma, and oropharymgeal squamous cell carcinoma

    Author : Husam Oda; David Lindquist; Eva Lundin; Ulrika Ottander; Kristina Stefansson; Kate Cuschieri; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vulvar squamous cell carcinoma; endometrial carcinoma; oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma; LRIG1-3; HPV; LMO7; HPV-driven; non-HPV-driven; prognosis; overall survival; disease-free survival; p53; Ki-67; CD8 TILs; CD44.; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : The human leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domain (LRIG) gene family comprises three genes, LRIG1, LRIG2 and LRIG3, which encode the LRIG1, LRIG2 and LRIG3 proteins, respectively. Previous stidies have revealed the different prognostic roles of these proteins in different cancers, and it has been shown that LRIG1 functions as a tumour suppressor in certain cancers via its negative regulation of several receptor tyrosine kinases. 3. 13. Studies on the antiproliferative action of interferon : effects on proteins synthesized in the G1 and S phase of the cell cycle in 2 anchorage-dependent cell lines

    Author : Dan Lundblad; Erik Lundgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Interferon; Glioma; Antiproliferative effect; DNA polymerase; Thymidine kinase; 2 -5 oligo A; Protein synthesis; Two-dimensional electrophorensis; Mouse fibroblasts; C-myc; KI-67 antigen;

    Abstract : Interferons (IFNs) are a class of structurally related proteins first discovered to be produced by virus-infected cells. By now, several other inducing agents have been described. READ MORE

  4. 14. Prognostic markers in breast cancer associated with cell cycle control, proliferation and angiogenesis

    Author : Thomas Lindahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Breast cancer; TP53; VEGF; cyclin E; Ki-67; MIB-1; p21; MDM-2; survival; prognostic markers;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on potential prognostic molecular breast cancer markers which are related to angiogenesis, proliferation or cell cycle control. A common denominator for all of the investigated markers in the thesis is either hypothesized or previously reported association with the tumor suppressor gene TP53. READ MORE

  5. 15. Cholangiocarcinoma in primary sclerosing cholangitis

    Author : Annika Bergquist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Primary sclerosing cholangitis; pancreatic carcinoma; cholangiocarcinoma; ulcerative colitis; biliary dysplasia; apoptosis; Ki-67; p53; bcl-2.;

    Abstract : Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic cholestatic liver disease of unknown causes closely associated with ulcerative colitis. PSC is a progressive disease leading to liver failure and need for liver transplantation. Cholangiocarcinoma (CC) occurs in 10-20% of patients with PSC. READ MORE
