16. Kinematics of the heart : strain and strain-rate using time-resolved three-dimensional phase contrast MRI
Abstract : During the cardiac cycle, the myocardium (heart muscle) undergoes large elastic deformations as a consequence of the active muscle contraction along the muscle :fibers and their relaxation, respectively. A four-dimensional (4D) description (three spatial dimensions + time) of the kinematics of the myocardium would bring increased understanding of the mechanical properties of the heart and may be of interest in assessing regional myocardial function. 17. A New Shoulder for the THOR Dummy Intended for Oblique Collisions
Abstract : Offset and oblique frontal car collisions represent a type of crash in which severe and fatal injuries frequently occur. This indicates the importance of having protective systems in vehicles for these types of collisions. READ MORE

18. Evaluation of Shoulder-Complex Motion in Frontal and Oblique Impact Loadings - A Comparison between Frontal Impact Dummies and the Human Body
Abstract : Offset and angled frontal impacts represent a crash type that is more common than full-frontal collisions. Several studies have shown that over 70% of all frontal impacts are offset or oblique. READ MORE

19. Star-forming Dwarf Galaxies : Internal motions and evolution
Abstract : The study of dwarf galaxies is important in order to better understand the physics of the young universe and how larger galaxies form and evolve. In this work we focus on Blue Compact Galaxies (BCGs) which havemuch enhanced star formation (starbursts), causing blue colours and strong emission line spectra. READ MORE

20. Always on the wing - Fluid dynamics, flight performance and flight behavior of common swifts
Abstract : The aerodynamics and kinematics behind the flight of animals are relatively unknown. Although animal flight has been studied for several hundreds of years, it is only in recent time that we have the technical abilities to study the mechanistic basis of animal flight. READ MORE
