  1. 1. Multiscale Modeling of Molecular Sieving in LTA-type Zeolites : From the Quantum Level to the Macroscopic

    Author : Amber Mace; Laaksonen Aatto; Tina Düren; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CO2 separation; carbon capture; kinetic sieving; Zeolite A; Zeolite NaKA; cation exchange; temporal coarse graining; Kinetic Monte Carlo; Molecular Dynamics; AIMD; DFT; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Abstract : LTA-type zeolites with narrow window apertures coinciding with the approximate size of small gaseous molecules such as CO2 and N2 are interesting candidates for adsorbents with swing adsorption technologies due to their molecular sieving capabilities and otherwise attractive properties. These sieving capabilities are dependent on the energy barriers of diffusion between the zeolite pores, which can be fine-tuned by altering the framework composition. READ MORE

  2. 2. Advances in Separation Science : . Molecular Imprinting: Development of Spherical Beads and Optimization of the Formulation by Chemometrics

    Author : Henrik Kempe; Anders Colmsjö; Ulrika Nilsson; Jan Åke Jönsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chromatography; Parameter estimation; Diffusion; Molecularly imprinted polymer; Suspension polymerization; Chemometrics; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : An intrinsic mathematical model for simulation of fixed bed chromatography was demonstrated and compared to more simplified models. The former model was shown to describe variations in the physical, kinetic, and operating parameters better than the latter ones. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling phase separation in Fe-Cr alloys : A continuum approach

    Author : Thomas Barkar; John Ågren; Nele Moelans; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Phase separation; spinodal decomposition; nucleation; diffusion; thermodynamics; kinetics; steel; ferritic;

    Abstract : The formation of Cr-rich and Fe-rich domains upon ageing of an initially homogeneous Fe-Cr alloy at elevated temperatures (300-600 ºC) is commonly referred to as phase separation. The behaviour originates from a miscibility gap in the Fe-Cr phase diagram. READ MORE

  4. 4. Catalytic Emission Abatement and Gas Separation

    Author : Martin Petersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NOx reduction; Ozone promotion; Flow reactor studies; Propane oxidation; Molecular simulations; Sulfur dioxide promotion; Zeolite adsorption; Environmental heterogeneous catalysis; Mean-field kinetic modeling; CO oxidation;

    Abstract : Air pollution is still today a major health problem. Emissions from mobile and stationary sources are regulated, but economical considerations limit the implementation of the most efficient abatement systems. To improve urban air quality, there is therefore a need to develop simple, durable and cost efficient emission control methods. READ MORE

  5. 5. Narrow-pore zeolites and zeolite-like adsorbents for CO2 separation

    Author : Ocean Cheung; Niklas Hedin; Paul A. Wright; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CO2 separation; zeolites; phosphates; titanium silicates; ion exchange; flue gas CO2 capture; biogas upgrading; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : A range of porous solid adsorbents were synthesised and their ability to separate and capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from gas mixtures was examined. CO2 separation from flue gas – a type of exhaust gas from fossil fuel combustion that consists of CO2 mixed with mainly nitrogen and biogas (consists of CO2 mixed with mainly methane) were explicitly considered.
