16. Modelling and analyzing strong-field effects in quantum plasma
Abstract : Under the extreme conditions that can be found around dense stars and in the accretion discs of black holes, several strong-field quantum phenomena dominate the dynamics of the plasma. This includes the creation of matter and anti-matter from the vacuum (Schwinger mechanism), radiation reaction and Landau quantization. READ MORE

17. Numerical Modeling of Turbulent Gas-Particle Flow
Abstract : This work presents a theoretical and numerical study of gas-particle two-phase flow within the Eulerian framework. Although gas-particle flows have been extensively studied, there is still no general agreement on the constitutive equations for an Eulerian-Eulerian model in which the dispersed phase is treated as a continuum, i.e. a granular fluid. 18. Fluid Dynamics of a Wurster-type Fluidized Bed - A Numerical and Experimental Study
Abstract : The fluid dynamics of a Wurster bed, a fluidized bed used in the pharmaceutical industry for the coating of small particles or pellets, is investigated numerically and experimentally. The main objective of the thesis is to obtain greater knowledge of the flow properties in the Wurster bed. READ MORE

19. The Klimontovich description of complex plasma systems : Low frequency electrostatic modes, spectral densities of fluctuations and collision integrals
Abstract : Plasmas seeded with solid particulates of nanometer to micron sizes (complex plasma systems) are a ubiquitous feature of intergalactic, interstellar and planetary environments but also of plasma processing applications or even fusion devices. Their novel aspects compared with ideal multi-component plasmas stem from (i) the large number of elementary charges residing on the grain surface, (ii) the variability of the charge over mass ratio of the dust component, (iii) the inherent openness and dissipative nature of such systems. 20. Charge Transport Simulations for Organic Electronics : A Kinetic Monte Carlo Approach
Abstract : In this thesis we focus on the modelling and simulation of organic electronic devices, investigating their structural and electronic properties. Organic devices have attracted great interest for their innovative properties, but their functioning still represent a theoretical and technological challenge. READ MORE
