  1. 11. Succinic acid production using metabolically engineered Escherichia coli

    Author : Christian Andersson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biokemisk processteknik; Biochemical Process Engineering;

    Abstract : The prospects of peak oil, climate change and the dependency of fossil carbon have urged research and development of production methods for the manufacture of fuels and chemicals from renewable resources (biomass). To date, the primary emphasis has been placed on the replacement of oil for transportation fuels. READ MORE

  2. 12. Predicting methane production in dairy cows

    Author : Mohammad Ramin; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, to which enteric fermentation from ruminants contributes significantly. Reliable and accurate predictions of methane (CH₄) production from dairy cows would be of interest to develop mitigation strategies and for national inventories. READ MORE

  3. 13. Beef production based on cassava products and legume foliage in Vietnam

    Author : Thang Chu Manh; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to determine the associative effects of supplemental sources of protein, or protein and energy, using cassava products and legume foliage on rumen degradability, in vivo digestibility, feed intake and growth rate of crossbred growing cattle. First it was hypothesized that the substitution of a part of a conventional concentrate with mixed cassava and legume foliage will positively influence rumen degradability and improve the performance of growing cattle. 4. 14. High Cell Density Strategies and Adaptive Evolution for Microbial Propionic Acid Production

    Author : Victor Hugo Cavero Olguin; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Propionic acid (PA) is a naturally occurring short chain fatty acid produced by microbial fermentation of the indigestible foods in the intestine, having a positive effect on the gastrointestinal health. PA inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria and molds; hence it is widely used as preservative for food, feed and grains. READ MORE

  5. 15. Methane production in dairy cows : individual cow variability in methane production

    Author : Edward Hernando Cabezas Garcia; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Enteric methane (CH4) emissions vary between individual cows, and this variation is attributed to both animal and dietary factors. In addition, measurement technique of in vivo CH4 emissions from individual animals still represents a major challenge for successful emissions mitigation strategies. READ MORE
