  1. 1. Functional Significance of Multiple Poly(A) Polymerases (PAPs)

    Author : Helena Nordvarg; Claire Moore; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; poly A polymerase; PAP; phosphorylation; isoforms; alternative splicing; kinetic parameters; hyperphosphorylation; regulation; Genetik; Poly A polymeras; PAP; fosforylering; isoformer; alternativ splitsning; kinetiska parametrar; reglering; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : 3’ end cleavage and polyadenylation are important steps in the maturation of eukaryotic mRNAs. Poly(A) polymerase (PAP), the enzyme catalysing the addition of adenosine residues, exists in multiple isoforms. In this study the functional significance of multiple poly(A) polymerases have been investigated. READ MORE

    Abstract : In many countries over the world (including Sweden), metal toxicity in freshwater resources causes a severe drinking water quality problem and poses a threat to the environment and human health. Among the different toxic metals in the water resources of Sweden, arsenic and uranium are the biggest threats to health. READ MORE

  5. 5. Bayesian Inference for Microwave Diagnostics at Joint European Torus

    Author : Stefan Schmuck; Per Brunsell; Thomas Jonsson; Jakob Svensson; Laurie Porte; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ECE; Bayesian; Fourier transform; spectroscopy; joint inference; length-scale; Gaussian process; microwave diagnostic; JET; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The major goal of this thesis is to perform Bayesian inference jointly for electron kinetic profiles, a toroidal magnetic field correction, diagnostic sensitivities, and wall reflection properties given noisy measurements of four microwave diagnostics at the tokamak JET. Besides the measurements, this kind of inference considers prior knowledge, like profile length-scales, to update objectively the information about the physics parameters. READ MORE
