  1. 21. Microscopic Properties of Superdeformed Nuclei

    Author : Lennart B Karlsson; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistical physics; gravitation; superdeformation; Nilsson-Strutinsky; modified oscillator potential; moments of inertia; transition energies; rotational bands; quadrupole moments; spin assignments; identical bands; additivity.; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; relativity; quantum mechanics; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; termodynamik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Karlsson;

    Abstract : Many high spin rotational bands in superdeformed nuclei have been found in the A ~ 140-150 region, but so far no linking transitions to known normal-deformed states have been found in these nuclei. Therefore, configuration and spin assignments have to be based on indirect spectroscopic information. READ MORE

  2. 22. Structure Functions and Final-State Properties in Deeply Inelastic electron-proton Scattering

    Author : Hamid Kharraziha; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cosmic rays; event generators; colour factors; High energy interactions; hadronic jets; QCD; the Linked Dipole Chain model; quantum mechanics; relativity; gravitation; statistical physics; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Kharraziha;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we give a description of the detailed structure of the proton and a description of the final-state properties in electron-proton scattering. Qualitative results, in a purely gluonic scenario with the leading log approximation, and quantitative results, where quarks are included and some sub-leading corrections have been made, are presented. 3. 23. Some Aspects of Chirality: fermion masses and chiral p-forms

    Author : Astri Kleppe; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; relativitet; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; massive neutrinos; fermion masses; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; self-dual fields; democratic family mixing; quantum mechanics; classical mechanics; relativity; gravitation; thermodynamics; statistical physics; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Elementary particle physics; quantum field theory; Elementarpartikelfysik; kvantfältteori; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Kleppe;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with different types of chiral fields. The properties of fermion masses are investigated from different poits of view, both within the Standard Model and in extensions of the model. It is shown how mass matrix invariants are used to define the measurables of the quark mixing matrix as invariant functions of the mass matrices. READ MORE

  4. 24. Hydrophobicity Patterns in Protein Folding

    Author : Frank Potthast; Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; global optimization; multisequence; Fourier analysis; hydrophobicity; protein folding; simulated tempering; statistical physics; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; gravitation; relativitet; termodynamik; statistisk fysik; alpha-helix; protein design.; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; quantum mechanics; classical mechanics; relativity; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Potthast;

    Abstract : The protein folding problem is addressed focussing on the hydro- phobicity patterns in the amino acid sequences and structures. Both real and model proteins are investigated. The hydrophobicity pattern of real proteins is probed in two ways. First, it is asked which binary pattern is most conserved within groups of related proteins. READ MORE

    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; exponential decay; modelling; fractured rock; classical mechanics; quantum mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; relativity; statistical physics; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; klassisk mekanik; relativitet; kvantmekanik; gravitation; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Environmental technology; pollution control; kontroll av utsläpp; Miljöteknik; conformal flow; heat as a tracer; KBS-3; stress field; temperature field; analytical solution; salt buoyancy; groundwater flow; nuclear waste repository; aquifer thermal energy storage; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Probert;

    Abstract : The underground is a vast region, which is, too a large extent, unused by man. It has a large potential as a storage facility due to its vastness and availability. This thesis, which consists of eleven papers and reports, deals with nuclear waste repositories in solid rock and with aquifer thermal energy storage systems. READ MORE
