  1. 1. Glitching the Fabric: Strategies of new media art applied to the codes of knitting and weaving

    Author : David McCallum; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2018]
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; glitch art; new media art; weaving; knitting; textile design; artistic research;

    Abstract : The purpose of the research has been to explore the creative possibilities in applying strategies derived from the domain of digital media and glitch art to a range of processes in the domain of textiles—specifically weaving, knitting, bobbin lace—with particular attention to the role of notations and coding in both domains. The enquiry presented in this dissertation is based upon the proposition that there are creative possibilities that arise when approaches and strategies from new-media and glitch art are transferred to some textile processes, and that this is possible because objects of new media and textile objects share features not limited to the grid. 2. 2. Relational Textiles for Space Design:design methods and expressions

    University dissertation from Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Delia Dumitrescu; Högskolan i Borås.; [2011]
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; interactive textiles; knitting; design methodology; architectural design; Smart Textiles Applications for Architectural Design; knitted structures;

    Abstract : The emergence of the Smart Textiles field opens possibilities for designers to combine traditional surface fabrication techniques with advanced technology in the design process. When it comes to the field of SmartTextiles as interactive materials for space design, it is essential to understand the identity of the material through design and also to understand the novelexpressions being mediated for space. 3. 3. Customisation of Fashion Products Using Complete Garment Technology

    University dissertation from Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Joel Peterson; Högskolan i Borås.; [2012]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flat knitting technology; knitting technology; mass customisation; mass customization; complete garment; whole garment; fashion logistics; co-design; supply chain management; Textile technology; Textil och mode generell ; Textiles and Fashion General ;

    Abstract : Complete garment knitting technology is a method of producing knitted products, generally fashion garments, ready-made directly in the knitting machine without additional operations such as cutting and sewing. This makes it possible to manufacture a knitted fashion garment with fewer processes then with conventional production methods. READ MORE
