16. Fertility and female dietary exposure to persistent organochlorine compounds
Abstract : Persistent organochlorine compounds (POC), such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and dioxins, are long-lived and highly lipophilic compounds which are present in all biota today. In Sweden, one of the major exposure routes for POC is through the consumption of fatty fish from the Baltic Sea, which is off the east coast of Sweden, and one of the most highly exposed populations is the fishermen's wives and sisters from the east coast. 17. Role of Endogenous BDNF and NT3 for Synaptic Transmission and Plasticity in the Dentate gyrus
Abstract : The neurotrophins, notably brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin 3 (NT3), modulate synaptic transmission and synaptic plasticity in the adult mammalian brain. Recent data suggest that neurotrophins might be mediators of activity-dependent synaptic plasticity. READ MORE

18. Methods for protein analysis by capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry
Abstract : Protein analysis is important to understanding biological systems, but sample diversity necessitates a multitude of analysis techniques and methods. Challenges that are addressed include analysis of low abundance samples, fractionation to reduce sample complexity, and automation to reduce time and cost. READ MORE

19. Hydrophobic Impregnation of Concrete Structures : Effects on Concrete Properties
Abstract : Hydrophobic impregnations often referred to as water repellent agents, today mainly consisting of alkylalkoxysilanes, are often used on concrete to prolong the service life of the structure. This is accomplished by protecting the reinforcement bars from chlorides or by changing the moisture content inside. READ MORE

20. Novel microfluidic based sample preparation methods for rapid separation and detection of viable bacteria from blood for sepsis diagnostics
Abstract : Sepsis is a serious medical condition characterized by a whole-body inflammatory response caused by bloodstream infection. The final stage of sepsis can lead to septic shock, multiple organ failure, and death. In early sepsis, the concentration of bacteria in the bloodstream is typically low, making diagnosis challenging. READ MORE
