  1. 1. Paleoglaciology of Shaluli Shan, southeastern Tibetan Plateau

    Author : Ping Fu; Arjen Stroeven; Lewis Owen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoglaciology; Tibetan Plateau; geomorphological mapping; cosmogenic nuclide; Last Glacial Maximum; glacial erosion; basal thermal regime; paleoglaciologi; Tibetanska platån; geomorfologisk kartering; kosmogena isotoper; senaste glaciala maximat; glacial erosion; subglacial temperatur; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : Reconstructing the paleoglaciation of the Tibetan Plateau is critical to understanding linkages between regional climate changes and global climate changes. This work focuses on the paleoglaciology of the Shaluli Shan Mountain area in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. READ MORE

  2. 2. Assessing Holocene and late Pleistocene geomagnetic dipole field variability

    Author : Andreas Nilsson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geomagnetic field; palaeomagnetism; the Holocene; dipole tilt; dipole moment; cosmogenic radionuclides;

    Abstract : Palaeomagnetic studies of continuous geological archives and archaeological artefacts are required to reconstruct geomagnetic field changes beyond the range of historical observations. In this thesis I assess the reliability of sedimentary palaeomagnetic data and Holocene dipole field reconstructions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Glacial history of Northeast Greenland: cosmogenic nuclide constraints on chronology and ice dynamics

    Author : Lena Håkanson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Jameson Land; Store Koldewey; Scoresby Sund; Ice dynamics; Glacial history; Cosmogenic; Greenland Ice Sheet;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to use cosmogenic exposure dating to investigating whether highly weathered landscapes in the Northeast Greenland fjord zone have developed during prolonged ice free conditions or have been preserved beneath cold-based ice. Previous work along the Northeast Greenland coast has presented two conflicting hypotheses for the extent of the Greenland Ice Sheet during the last glacial maximum (LGM). READ MORE

  4. 4. Cosmogenic radionuclides in environmental archives – A paleo-perspective on space climate and a synchronizing tool for climate records

    Author : Florian Mekhaldi; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Comogenic radionuclides; 10Be; 36Cl; Solar energetic particles; Solar storms; Paleoclimate; Time-scales; Solar activity;

    Abstract : The Sun is the primary source for Earth’s climate system. Its fluctuations in irradiance are also known to have an impact on climate. In addition, changes in solar activity modulate the atmospheric production rates of cosmogenic radionuclides (e.g. READ MORE

  5. 5. Solar Activity Changes at the End of the Last Ice Age - Influences on Climate and Applications for Dating

    Author : Florian Adolphi; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solar Activity; 10Be; 14C; radiocarbon calibration; time scale; geochronology; paleoclimate; ice cores; tree rings; IntCal; cosmogenic radionuclides;

    Abstract : Throughout its history Earth experienced a variety of natural climate changes. By investigating their spatial and temporal evolution we can increase the understanding of the mechanisms and dynamics underlying natural climate change and improve our general comprehension of the climate system.
