  1. 1. Signaling to and from the sodium pump : effects of insulin and cardiotonic steroids

    Author : Olga Kotova; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Na ; K -ATPase; insulin; C-peptide; exercise; in vitro contraction; cardiotonic steroids; ouabain; marinobufagenin; ERK 1 2 MAP kinase; Src; p90 rsk; GSK3; signaling cascade; glycogen synthesis; human skeletal muscle cells; human renal tubular cells; rat skeletal muscle.;

    Abstract : Insulin and proinsulin-connecting peptide (C-peptide) stimulate Na+,K+-ATPase activity. The molecular mechanism by which insulin and C-peptide regulate the Na-pump in differentiated primary human skeletal muscle cells (HSMCs) and primary human renal tubular cells (HRTCs) was determined. 2. 2. Purification of general RNA polymerase II transcription factors from mouse for studies of proliferation-specific transcription

    Author : Irina Kotova; Lars-Gunnar Larsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular genetics; Genetik; Genetics; Genetik;

    Abstract : Accurate initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II depends on general transcription factors (GTFs), which include the TATA-binding protein (TBP) and the transcription factors (TF) IIB, IIF, IIE and IIH. In order to reconstitute mouse transcription in vitro, we cloned the genes encoding mouse TFIIB, and both subunits of TFIIE and TFIIF from a mouse cDNA library. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biomarkers for DNA damage in human biomonitoring

    Author : Natalia Kotova; Dag Jenssen; Jan Grawé; Lilianne Abramsson-Zetterberg; Mats Ljungman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : biomonitoring; biomarkers; DNA damage; cancer; diet; UV-light; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Abstract : Genomic DNA in humans is constantly exposed to different kinds of damage. Therefore, it is desirable to implement methods for detecting and measuring of inflicted body burden. Human biomonitoring (HBM) can here be a useful tool as a link between environmental exposure and disease outcome. READ MORE
