  1. 6. Economic and Environmental Benefits of CHP-based District Heating Systems in Sweden

    Author : Shahnaz Amiri; Björn G. Karlsson; Louise Trygg; Mats Westermark; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Future energy systems and thus the climate are affected by many factors, such as energy resources, energy demand, energy policy and the choice of energy technologies. Energy systems of the future are facing three main challenges; the steady growth of global energy demand, the energy resource depletion, as well as the increasing emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases and their impact on climate change. 2. 7. Restructured district heating price models and their impact on district heating users

    Author : Jingjing Song; Björn Karlsson; Fredrik Wallin; Hailong Li; Heimo Zinko; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating; restructured price model; price model survey; pricing strategy; consumption profile; consumption pattern; alternative cost; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : District heating (DH) is considered to be an efficient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective method for providing heat to buildings, since electricity is usually co-generated in biomass fuelled combined heat and power (CHP) plants. This gives it an important role in the mitigation of climate change. READ MORE

  3. 8. Experimental studies of pulverised biomass combustion : Impacts on ash transformations and process temperature

    Author : Daniel Nordgren; Christoffer Boman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Den samlade erfarenhet som finns kring användandet av rena biobränslen för produktion av värme- och kraftvärme kommer till största del från rost- och fluidbäddpannor. Pulvereldningstekniken har traditionellt sett nyttjats mest för kolbränslen, och erfarenheter av rena biobränslen i pulvereldade anläggningar är därför begränsad. READ MORE

  4. 9. Efficient heat supply and use from an energy-system and climate perspective

    Author : Maria Danestig; Björn G. Karlsson; Dag Henning; Erik Dotzauer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to illustrate whether the heat demand in district heating systems can be seen as a resource that enables efficient energy utilization, how this can be achieved and to discuss consequences of this assumption. Based on the answers to posed research questions and on the studies included in this thesis, it is concluded that the hypothesis “A common system approach for energy supply and heat demand will show climate and economic efficient solutions” is true. 5. 10. On the Analysis and Fault-Diagnosis Tools for Small-Scale Heat and Power Plants

    Author : Jaime Arriagada; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; genetic algorithms; neural networks; fault diagnosis; maintenance; availability; reliability; energy analysis; combined heat and power; Methods and tools; small scale;

    Abstract : The deregulation of the electricity market drives utilities and independent power producers to operate heat and power plants as profit centers. In order to keep the economic margins on the credit side, the preferred measures have been to improve the electrical efficiency through changes in the hardware and boost the overall efficiency through e.g. READ MORE
