  1. 11. Hadronization Effects in the Strong Interaction

    Author : Patrik Edén; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistical physics; gravitation; relativity; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; quantum mechanics; string fragmentation; baryon production; jets; QCD; hadronization; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; High energy interactions; cosmic rays; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi;

    Abstract : Different hadronization effects in high energy interactions are investigated. The frame-work is the Lund model for the strong interaction. A model for baryon production in jet fragmentation is presented and extended to baryon remnant fragmentation in deep inelastic scattering and hadron--hadron collisions. READ MORE

  2. 12. Gamow -Teller Beta Decay in Drip Line Nuclei

    Author : Fredrik Frisk; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gravitation; relativity; proton drip line; Gamow-Teller giant resonance; beta decay; Hartree-Fock calculation; prolate; oblate; deformed nuclei; Tamm-Dancoff approximation; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; quantum mechanics; classical mechanics; statistical physics; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Frisk;

    Abstract : Before radioactive ion beams became available, the Gamow-Teller (GT) giant resonance was studied using charge-exchange reactions such as (p,n) and (He,t). In beta-stable nuclei, which can be used as targets, the GT giant resonance lies above the ground state of the mother nucleus. READ MORE

  3. 13. Resonant Tunneling in Laterally Confined Quantum Structures

    Author : Boel Gustafson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gravitation; relativity; quantum mechanics; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; Fysik; Physics; High peak-to-valley ratio; Lateral confinement; Quantum dots; Resonant tunneling; Self-assembled quantum dots; Schottky depletion; Buried metal gate; Electron transport; Magnetic-field dependence; Energy level width; Tunneling transistors; Mode coupling; statistical physics; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Technological sciences; Teknik; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Gustafson;

    Abstract : In the thesis, three-dimensionally confined resonant tunneling structures were studied experimentally. Two approaches were used for obtaining quantum confinement: gate-defined lateral constriction of double barrier structures, and epitaxial growth of self-assembled quantum dots. READ MORE

  4. 14. Model Vertices Beyond the GW Approximation

    Author : Mikael Hindgren; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; gravitation; GW approximation; Electron self energy; Green s function; consistency; local-field corrections; vertex function; conserving approximations; variational energies; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; relativity; quantum mechanics; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Hindgren;

    Abstract : We study the effects of local vertex corrections to the self energy of the electron gas. We find that a vertex derived from time-dependent density-functional theory can give accurate self energies without including the explicit time dependence of the exchange-correlation potential provided, however, that a proper decay at large momentum transfer (large q) is built into the vertex function. 5. 15. Self-consistency and the GW-approximation

    Author : Bengt Holm; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; Spectral Function; Greens functions; Self-energy; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; Quasiparticle.; quantum mechanics; relativity; statistical physics; gravitation; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Holm;

    Abstract : The effects of self-consistency in the GW-approximation are studied. The $GWA$ is known to describe the electronic properties of a wide range of materials very well. However, the calculations made so far have not taken into account the issue of self-consistency, which is implied in the original formulation of the $GWA$. READ MORE
