31. Modeling of Protein Folding and Genetic Networks
Abstract : Models for potein folding are developed and applied to peptides and small proteins with both α-helix and β-sheet structure. The energy functions, in which effective hydrophobicity forces and hydrogen bonds are taken to be the two central terms, are sequence-based and deliberately kept simple. READ MORE

32. Fundamental properties of neutrinos: masses and mixings
Abstract : Neutrino physics is one of the fastest growing topic in phenomenological high energy physics. Neutrinos are elementary neutral particles and participate only in the weak interactions. For this reason it is very difficult to detect them experimentally. Nevertheless, much experimental progress has been obtained in the recent years. READ MORE

33. Thermodynamic Studies of Macromolecular Models
Abstract : The thermodynamic properties of single chain polyelectrolyte and protein models are studied using Monte Carlo simulations and (for the polyelectrolyte models) variational calculations and high- and low-temperature expansions. A variational method is used for minimizing Lennard-Jones energies and for estimating end-to-end distances for a rigid Coulomb chain at finite temperatures. READ MORE

34. Structure of Deformed Proton-rich Nuclei Studied by Beta-decay
Abstract : Nuclear structure is studied using beta-decay reactions as a probe and focusing on medium-heavy proton-rich nuclei. One of the included articles is a systematic study covering a major part of the nuclear chart, especially searching for nuclei which may be sensitive to sub-MeV neutrinos... READ MORE

35. Physical Modeling of Protein Folding
Abstract : Sequence-based models for protein folding are developed and tested on peptides with both alpha- and beta-structure, and on small three-helix-bundle proteins. The interaction potentials of the models are minimalistic and based mainly on hydrogen bonding and effective hydrophobicity forces. READ MORE
