  1. 16. Free oligosaccharides and glycosylation of bile salt-stimulated lipase in human milk

    Author : Eva Landberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Bile salt-stimulated lipase (BSSL) is a glycosylated protein present in milk at a concentration of 100-200 mg/L. It is an enzyme important for fat digestion in the newborn infant. The protein backbone contains one possible site for N-glyeosylation and several sites for 0-glyeosylation. READ MORE

  2. 17. Sleep in dairy cows

    Author : Emma Ternman; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []

    Abstract : Little is known about rest and sleep in dairy cows, but it has been shown in other species that the total amount of sleep, duration of sleep bouts and distribution of sleep over 24 hours differ depending on health status, age, pregnancy and lactation. Sleep recordings conducted on cows with surgically implanted electrodes have shown that they sleep four hours per 24-hour period. READ MORE

    Abstract : A dry period of dairy cows is historically seen as a period during which the cow can restore its body condition and regenerate its mammary epithelium in order to be high yielding in the successive lactation.
