  1. 1. Monitoring Water Availability in Northern Inland Waters from Space

    Author : Saeid Aminjafari; Fernando Jaramillo; Ian Brown; Cathleen Jones; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Water occurrence; Lake water level; Remote sensing; Altimetry; D-InSAR; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : River deltas and lakes support biodiversity and offer crucial ecosystem services such as freshwater provision, flood control, and fishing. However, climate change and human activities have affected deltas and lakes globally, altering the services they provide. READ MORE

  2. 2. Remote sensing in optically complex waters : water quality assessment using MERIS data

    Author : José M. Beltrán-Abaunza; Susanne Kratzer; Carsten Brockmann; Samantha Lavender; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ocean Colour; MERIS; Baltic Sea; Bio-optics; water quality; Chlorophyll; Turbidity; SPM; Himmerfjärden; Remote Sensing; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Abstract : This PhD study focusses on the use of MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) data for reliable and quantitative water-quality assessment of optically-complex waters (lake, brackish and coastal waters). The thesis is divided into two parts: A. READ MORE

  3. 3. Remote sensing of supra-glacial lakes on the west Greenland Ice Sheet

    Author : A. Malin Johansson; Ian A. Brown; Peter Jansson; Johan Kleman; Andreas Ahlstrøm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supra-glacial lakes; Greenland Ice Sheet; Ice melting; Remote sensing; SAR; MODIS; Time-series analysis; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The Greenland Ice Sheet is the largest ice sheet in the northern hemisphere. Ongoing melting of the ice sheet, resulting in increased mass loss relative to the longer term trend, has raised concerns about the stability of the ice sheet. Melt water generated at the surface is temporarily stored in supra-glacial lakes on the ice sheet. READ MORE

  4. 4. Lake Hydrodynamics and Pollution Transport under Climate Change : The Case of Lake Victoria

    Author : Seema Paul; Henrik Ernstson; Zahra Kalantari; Abhijit Mukherjee; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bathymetry mapping; model verification; water balance; correlation; tracer transport; wind hydrodynamics; pollution and nutrient transport; climate effect; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Abstract : A very small part of the total earth’s water is freshwater (only 2.5 %). Unfortunately, due to climate change and pervasive manmade activities, surface freshwater quality in many places of the world has become degraded. READ MORE

  5. 5. Broad-Scale Patterns in CDOM and Total Organic Matter Concentrations of Inland Waters – Insights from Remote Sensing and GIS

    Author : Enass Said Al-Kharusi; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inlandwater; Remote sensing; Sentinel-2 MSI; CDOM; GIS; climate change;

    Abstract : The rise in CDOM (coloured dissloved organic matter) is likely to be relatively more pronounced in remote northern regions. However, there is a lack of monitoring to confirm this. READ MORE
