  1. 11. Studies on the Molecular Biology of the Mouse Pneumotropic Polyomavirus

    Author : Shouting Zhang; Kristina Dörries; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; murine pneumotropic virus; Kilham mouse polyomavirus; large T antigen; enhancer; regulatory region rearrangement; gene expression regulation; DNA replication; transposable elements; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : The Murine Pneumotropic Virus (MPtV), in contrast to the other MurinePolyomavirus (MPyV), appears to be non-tumourigenic in its natural host. Instead, MPtV causes acute pneumonia and can serve as a model in studies of polyomavirus-induced disease. In initial experiments, MPtV large T-antigen (LT) was expressed in a heterologous system. 2. 12. Tapasin - The star of the show in HLA-I maturation

    Author : Camilla Thuring; Antigen presentation; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tapasin; HLA-I; tumor; antigen presentation;

    Abstract : Human leukocyte antigen class I (HLA-I) molecules are present on the cell surface of all nucleated cells. They bind intracellular peptides and present them to the immune system thus providing a readout to cytotoxic T-cells about the status of a cell. READ MORE

  3. 13. EFFECTOR T CELL HOMING TO THE SMALL INTESTINAL MUCOSA

    Author : Hanna Stenstad; Immunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; Immunology; serology; homing; intestine; GALT; chemokine receptor; lymphocyte; serologi;

    Abstract : The intestinal mucosa, including the intestinal epithelium and underlying lamina propria (LP), contains a large number of effector/memory T cells that are thought to play a central role in the generation and maintenance of mucosal immune responses and in maintaining mucosal integrity. The work in this thesis investigates the mechanisms regulating effector T cell recruitment to the small intestinal mucosa focusing on the role of chemokine receptors in this process. READ MORE

  4. 14. Effects of polyomavirus T antigens on cellular signal transduction pathways

    Author : Karin Söderbärg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Abstract : The early viral proteins, the tumor (T) antigens, of mouse polyomavirus,stimulate cell growth by interaction with cellular growth regulating proteins.The viral interference with cellular growth regulation may, eventually, alsoresult in effects on cellular apoptosis (programmed cell death) mechanisms. 5. 15. Characterisation of the interaction between the Hepatitis B virus core antigen and B cells

    Author : Una Lazdina; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : HBcAg; B cells; B cell antigen receptor; co-stimulatory molecules; cytokines; T helper cells; cytotoxic T cells;

    Abstract : The Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a major cause of severe human liver disease globally. There are around 350 million persistent HBV carriers with a risk of development of liver disease including cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. READ MORE
