11. Short-Term Traffic Prediction in Large-Scale Urban Networks
Abstract : City-wide travel time prediction in real-time is an important enabler for efficient use of the road network. It can be used in traveler information to enable more efficient routing of individual vehicles as well as decision support for traffic management applications such as directed information campaigns or incident management. 12. Enhancing Short-Term Traffic Prediction for Large-Scale Transport Networks by Spatio-Temporal Clustering
Abstract : Congestion in large cities is responsible for extra travel time, noise, air pollution, CO2 emissions, and more. Transport is one of the main recognized contributors to global warming and climate change, which is getting increasing attention from authorities and societies around the world. READ MORE

13. Analysis of large scale rock slopes
Abstract : The objective of this work was to (1) increase the knowledge of the behavior of large scale rock slopes, (2) improve the ability to estimate rock mass strength for such slopes, and (3) develop an improved design methodology for forward design of large scale slopes in open pit mining. A fourth objective included the application of the results to the Aitik open pit in northern Sweden. READ MORE

14. Convection in large scale numerical models : parameterization and forecasts of precipitation probability
Abstract : This thesis deals with the problem of including the effects of moist convection in the atmosphere in a large scale numerical forecast model and how to interpret and evaluate the predicted convective precipitation. Two methods for parameterizing convection in a large scale numerical forecast model are tested to find the most appropriate one for precipitation forecasts in the mid-latitudes. 15. Large-scale Runoff Generation and Routing : Efficient Parameterisation using High-resolution Topography and Hydrography
Abstract : Water has always had a controlling influence on the earth’s evolution. Understanding and modelling the large-scale hydrological cycle is important for climate prediction and water-resources studies. READ MORE
