1. Aspects of priapulid development
Abstract : The phylum Priapulida is a small group of marine worms that is allied with the nematodes, kinorhynchs, loriciferans and nematomorphs in a clade called the Cycloneuralia or Introverta. Together with the arthropods they are generally considered to comprise the Ecdysozoa, a clade of moulting animals. READ MORE

2. Mitochondrial differentiation during the early development of the amphibian embryo
Abstract : Mitochondria from Xenopus laevis and Ambystoma mexica- num embryos between fertilization and the beginning of feeding were studied: the former with respect to metabolic behaviour, enzyme pattern and carrier activity, and the latter with respect to morphological parameters. The metabolic behaviour of mitochondria was studied by assessing the rates of oxygen uptake in presence of various substrates. 3. Mucin-like proteins in Drosophila development
Abstract : Mucins are large and highly glycosylated proteins and major component of the mucus that coats the lining of epithelial organs. Mucins are characterized by the presence of extended regions rich in the amino acids Proline, Threonine and Serine (PTS domain), where the Serines and Threonines are O-glycosylated to form sugar-rich mucin domains. 4. Early Life History of the cold-water coral Lophelia pertusa - with implications for dispersal
Abstract : For sessile marine invertebrates the pelagic larval stage is the only means for dispersal, and thus govern population connectivity and maintenance of genetic diversity. It is also a kind of life insurance, i.e. it reduces the risk of extinctions. READ MORE

5. Predator effects on behaviour and life-history of prey
Abstract : In this thesis I investigate predator-induced effects on behavioural and life-history characteristics of prey. At any moment a given predator is capable of attacking a small number of prey. READ MORE
