1. Light Propagation and Gas Absorption Studies in Turbid Media Using Tunable Diode Llaser Techniques
Abstract : Optical absorption spectroscopy is a widely used analytical tool for constituent analysis in many applications. According to the Beer-Lambert law, the transmitted light intensity through a homogeneous medium is an exponential function of the product of the concentration, the total pathlength, and the absorption cross-section of the absorbing substance. 2. Micromechanical retention and chemical bonding to polycrystalline dental ceramics : studies on aluminum oxide and stabilized zirconium dioxide
Abstract : Det pågår en ständig utveckling av olika dentala material avsedda föratt ersätta förlorad tandsubstans. En materialgrupp som är särskiltintressant är höghållfasta keramiska material, oxidkeramer så somyttriumdioxidstabiliserad tetragonal polykristallin zirkoniumdioxid(Y-TZP). READ MORE

3. Laser sintered materials with Non-equilibrium structures
Abstract : This thesis is focused on achieving materials with non-equilibrium structures fabricated by high-energy laser sintering. The chosen precursor materials have rigid and inert structures like high-melting point ceramics or metals. READ MORE

4. Laser Absorption Spectroscopy of Gas in Scattering Media
Abstract : Absorption spectroscopy constitutes a chemical analysis tool which can be applied to various samples and application fields. This thesis focuses on gas absorption spectroscopy with the means of diode lasers - tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, TDLAS. READ MORE

5. Electronic materials : growth and characterisation
Abstract : In this thesis the InSb(111), InAs(111) and GaSb(001) surfaces have been studied by means of time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy based upon the femtosecond laser system. The pump-and-probe technique allows to analyse both electron states in the valence band and normally unpopulated electron states above the valence band, which can be occupied by transiently excited carriers at the optically pumped surface.
