  1. 1. Fronts and instabilities in laser ablation, organic semiconductors and quantum media

    Author : Mikhail Modestov; Vitaly Bychkov; Mattias Marklund; Tito Mendonca; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; front; instability; deflagration; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The concept of a front plays a decisive role in various elds in physics and beyond. In the present thesis we study key aspects of front dynamics and stability in the context of laser plasmas, organic semiconductors and quantum media. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of Time Resolved Laser Imaging Techniques for Studies of Turbulent Reacting Flows

    Author : Johan Hult; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electronics and Electrical technology; Laserteknik; Elektronik och elektroteknik; Laser technology; Fysik; Physics; Three-dimensional; Laser Diagnostics; High speed; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Hult;

    Abstract : In the present thesis the development and application of a novel laser diagnostic system for high speed spectroscopic imaging of turbulent combustion phenomena is presented. The system is capable of recording sequences of up to 8 images with a separation between consecutive images as short as microseconds. READ MORE

  3. 3. Laser welding of aluminium alloys

    Author : Tomas Forsman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : This thesis treats laser welding of aluminium alloys from a practical perspective with elements of mathematical analysis. The theoretical work has in all cases been verified experimentally. The aluminium alloys studied are from the 5xxx and 6xxx groups which are common for example in the automotive industry. READ MORE

  4. 4. Laser induced effects in carbon nanotubes : implications for Raman characterization of functionalized systems

    Author : David Olevik; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; Fysik;

    Abstract : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have attracted attention over the past decade because of their outstanding mechanical and electronic properties. These tiny tubular shells made of carbon atoms can be metallic or semiconducting and while having diameters of only about one nanometer (10-9 m), they can be up to centimeters in length, making them quasi one-dimensional (molecular wires). 5. 5. Fluid Dynamics in Stirred Vessels - Experiments and simulations of single-phase and liquid-liquid systems

    Author : Fredrik Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Particle Image Velocimetry PIV ; single-phase; Laser Doppler Anemometry LDA ; mixing; liquid-Liquid; immiscible; stirred tank; Rushton turbine; Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD ; macro-instability; frequency analysis; refraction index matched;

    Abstract : This thesis applies experimental measurement techniques and computational fluid dynamics to evaluate turbulent mixing of liquid-liquid systems in stirred vessels. Also studies of macro-instabilities in a single-phase system and how they affect flow and thus mixing are conducted. READ MORE
