  1. 1. I-girder Composite Bridges with Lateral Bracing : Improved load distribution

    Author : Victor Vestman; Peter Collin; Robert Hällmark; Hans Petursson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; assessment; bridge; composite bridge; steel-concrete composite; I-girder; case study; horizontal trusses; lateral bracing; rehabilitation; strengthening; torsional stiffness; upgrading; Byggkonstruktion; Structural Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the subject of lateral bracing between the bottom flanges of I-girder composite bridges. The focus is on the impact of adding lateral bracing on existing bridges, as well as on new bridges. READ MORE

  2. 2. Lateral movements versus stationarity : adaptive alternatives in benthic invertebrates to the seasonal environment in a boreal river

    Author : Tommy I. Olsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Benthic invertebrates; cold-hardiness; ice; migrations; overwintering; river; seasonal variations; spatial distribution; spring flood; water level;

    Abstract : Benthic invertebrates inhabiting boreal rivers are exposed to very large seasonal variations in their physical environment. The extremes are in winter when the littoral area freezes solid and in spring when water flow increases rapidly. READ MORE

  3. 3. On Drive Force Distribution and Road Vehicle Handling - A Study of Understeer and Lateral Grip

    Author : Matthijs Klomp; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; drive force distribution; drive force; vehicle handling; lateral grip; understeer; acceleration; steady-state cornering; vehicle dynamics; combined slip;

    Abstract : Computer controlled vehicle sub-systems aimed to support drivers in various drivingsituations are rapidly increasing in number and sophistication. These systemshave evolved from anti-lock braking and traction control systems, to electronic stabilitycontrol. READ MORE

  4. 4. The role of particles on initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc : lateral distribution, secondary spreading and CO2-/SO2-influence

    Author : Zhuo Yuan Chen; Christofer Leygraf; Jan-Erik Svensson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric corrosion; copper; zinc; NaCl particles; NH4 2SO4; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi;

    Abstract : The role of sodium chloride (NaCl) particles and ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4) particles on the initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc was investigated under in situ and ex situ conditions using microgravimetry, FTIR spectroscopy, ion chromatography, scanning electron microscopy with x-ray microanalysis and the scanning Kelvin probe. For the first time, in situ infrared spectra were collected on a micron level during particle induced atmospheric corrosion using a recently developed experimental set-up for in situ FTIR microspectroscopy. 5. 5. Fuel dispersion and bubble flow distribution in fluidized beds

    Author : Johanna Olsson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluidised bed; fuel mixing; bubble distribution; digital image analysis; particle tracking; Energi och material; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Fluidized bed technology is used for thermal conversion of solid fuels (combustion and gasification) and is especially suitable for conversion of low-rank fuels such as biomass and waste. The performance of fluidized bed units depends on the fuel mixing and fuel-gas contact. READ MORE
