  1. 11. Mesoscale Simulations of Atmospheric Flow in Complex Terrain

    Author : Matthias Mohr; Sergej Zilitinkevich; Leif Enger; Dieter P. Eppel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Meteorology; Mesoscale modeling; Flow in complex terrain; Atmospheric dispersion; Model comparison; Boundary conditions; Numerical modeling; Atmospheric pressure; Gravity waves; Meteorologi; Meteorology; Meteorologi; Meteorology; meteorologi;

    Abstract : The MIUU mesoscale model was further developed, in order to include information on large-scale atmospheric fields from global or regional atmospheric climate- and weather-prediction models. For this purpose, a new lateral boundary condition was developed and implemented into the model. READ MORE

  2. 12. SOLIDS MIXING IN BUBBLING FLUIDIZED BEDS

    Author : Erik Sette; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluid-dynamic scaling; Solids mixing; lateral dispersion; solids cross-flow;

    Abstract : For solid fuels, thermochemical conversion processes such as combustion and gasification are especially suitable to be carried out in fluidized bed units because of the relatively high mixing rates, fuel flexibility and the possibility to use active bed material to enhance process efficiency. Mixing of fuel is important to ensure complete conversion and reduced emissions of unburnt material. READ MORE

  3. 13. On pressure-driven Hele-Shaw flow

    Author : Salvador Manjate; Peter Wall; John Fabricius; Johan Byström; Niklas Lundström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Mathematics; Tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : The present licentiate thesis is devoted to the rigorous derivation of the equations governing thin-film flow of incompressible Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. More precisely, we consider flow in a generalized Hele-Shaw cell, which is a thin three-dimensional domain confined between two surfaces connected by cylindrical obstacles of various shapes. 4. 14. The role of particles on initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc : lateral distribution, secondary spreading and CO2-/SO2-influence

    Author : Zhuo Yuan Chen; Christofer Leygraf; Jan-Erik Svensson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric corrosion; copper; zinc; NaCl particles; NH4 2SO4; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi;

    Abstract : The role of sodium chloride (NaCl) particles and ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4) particles on the initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc was investigated under in situ and ex situ conditions using microgravimetry, FTIR spectroscopy, ion chromatography, scanning electron microscopy with x-ray microanalysis and the scanning Kelvin probe. For the first time, in situ infrared spectra were collected on a micron level during particle induced atmospheric corrosion using a recently developed experimental set-up for in situ FTIR microspectroscopy. 5. 15. Fuel dispersion and bubble flow distribution in fluidized beds

    Author : Johanna Olsson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluidised bed; fuel mixing; bubble distribution; digital image analysis; particle tracking; Energi och material; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Fluidized bed technology is used for thermal conversion of solid fuels (combustion and gasification) and is especially suitable for conversion of low-rank fuels such as biomass and waste. The performance of fluidized bed units depends on the fuel mixing and fuel-gas contact. READ MORE
