1. Kinetic Studies of NO Oxidation and Reduction over Silver-Alumina Catalyst
Abstract : In line with growing concerns to manufacture more environmentally friendly vehicles, the use of internal combustion engines operating with oxygen excess or so called lean-burn engines will continue to be increasingly used. For lean-burn operation, reduction of NOx (NO+NO2) emissions is a major challenge and it is therefore urgently required to develop efficient and reliable NOx reduction aftertreatment systems for a wide variety of lean-burn or diesel engines. 2. Lean NOx reduction over silver-alumina catalysts - Aspects on synthesis, structure and activity
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to increase the understanding of how to design highly active silver-alumina catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NOx with hydrocarbons (HC-SCR) in oxygen excess at low temperatures (150-250 °C). Silver-alumina catalysts have been prepared using different methods, including a new unique preparation method developed during the thesis project. READ MORE

3. Exhaust aftertreatment under lean conditions, regenerable SOx traps and NOx reduction catalysts
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate i) potential materials for regenerable SOx traps and ii) the influence of silver distribution within Ag/Al2O3 catalysts on the selective reduction of NOx by hydrocarbons (HC-SCR). Both areas are highly relevant for present and future vehicle aftertreatment technologies for lean exhausts. READ MORE

4. Selective Catalytic Reduction of NOx with NH3 - Kinetic Modeling and Experimental Studies using Zeolite Based Catalysts
Abstract : Emissions from the combustion of fossil fuel contain several pollutants which can be converted over a catalyst to less harmful products. An efficient way to reduce nitrogen oxides in a lean environment is to apply selective catalytic reduction of these oxides with ammonia (NH3 SCR). READ MORE

5. Improving engineering change processes by using lean principles
Abstract : The purpose of this research was to test the usefulness of the 13 lean principles for product development by Morgan & Liker when improving an engineering change (EC) process. The EC-process was studied at four firms. The firms were active in three different industrial branches. Two of the firms are situated in Sweden and two in Finland. READ MORE
