1. Lecithin-Based Microemulsions for Pharmaceutical use - Phase behavior and Solution Structure
Abstract : Microemulsions are thermodynamically stable, transparent solutions of water, oil and amphiphile(s). It is possible to incorporate large amounts of oil in microemulsions, which makes them interesting for use as a drug delivery vehicle for water insoluble drugs. A prerequisite for pharmaceutical use, however, is a low toxicity of the composition. READ MORE

2. On the Extraction of Essential Oils by Supercritical Carbon Dioxide and its Influence on the Mesomorphic Phase Structures
Abstract : A comparison of essential oils from leaves of Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn. obtained by hydrodistillation (HD) and supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction is presented. Selected major components of the oils showed a predominance of higher molecular weight components in the SC-CO2 extracts than in those obtained by HD. READ MORE

3. Effects of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin on vitamin A storage in rat hepatic stellate cells
Abstract : The polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs), popularly called dioxins, are persistent pollutants with widespread occurrence in the environment as well as in human food and tissues. 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), the most toxic dioxin, as well as other dioxin-like compounds induce a broad spectrum of biochemical and toxic effects, many of which occur at extremely low doses or concentrations. 4. Studies on the effects of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin on vitamin A homeostasis
Abstract : Vitamin A (retinoids) is needed for normal vision, growth, reproduction, cell differentiation, embryonic development, and immune function. Retinoids exert their functions in the same way as classical hormones, as transcription factors acting via nuclear receptors. READ MORE

5. Emulsion formation and stability - Impact of the dispersed state of the emulsifier on emulsification
Abstract : Emulsions find a variety of applications in for example food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical preparations. In order to obtain emulsions with desired properties it is important to understand how different factors, such as the properties of the emulsifier and the emulsification procedure, impact the final emulsion properties.
