  1. 1. Development and Application of Optical Diagnostics of Alkali Vapours for Solid Fuel Combustion

    Author : Tomas Leffler; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; UV Absorption Spectroscopy; Alkali Vapour Pressure; KCl; KOH; NaCl; NaOH; high-temperature corrosion; Laser-induced Photofragmentation Fluorescence; slagging; fouling; reduced maintenance cost; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Leffler;

    Abstract : Background: High amounts of alkali in the fuel, such as potassium and sodium in combination with high amounts of chlorine increase the chances of high-temperature corrosion, deposit growth and slagging and fouling. These risks need to be reduced to avoid losses in revenue due to unplanned stops and costs related to increased maintenance. READ MORE

  2. 2. Simulation-based Evaluation of Fixed to Flexible Transit

    Author : David Leffler; Erik Jenelius; Wilco Burghout; Oded Cats; Chris Tampère; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transportsystem; Transport Systems;

    Abstract : Emerging technologies have inspired a wide array of flexible public transit system designs characterized by varying degrees of demand-responsive routing and scheduling. The availability and synthesis of new data sources with higher degrees of spatial and temporal richness brought on by advancements in Intelligent Transport Systems allow for monitoring and responding to evolving supply-demand imbalances in real-time. 3. 3. Simulation based evaluation of flexible transit

    Author : David Leffler; Erik Jenelius; Wilco Burghout; Oded Cats; Jan Persson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Abstract : Transport authorities are faced with the challenge of making effective use of existing transportation infrastructure under increasing needs of transport accessibility, sustainability, and safety. The ongoing growth and adoption of shared mobility options, the anticipation of automated vehicles, and the increased availability of real-time data brought on with the developments of Intelligent Transport Systems, have all inspired many innovations in public transit design. 4. 4. Complement in Autoimmunity - the importance of clearing waste

    Author : Jonatan Leffler; Malmö Proteinkemi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; annexins; apoptosis; Complement system; neutrophil extracellular traps; systemic lupus erythematosus; C1q; factor H; histones;

    Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease where improperly cleared apoptotic cells and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) induce an autoimmune response. Complement is crucial to prevent SLE by tailoring immune responses and opsonizing dead cells but may also induce inflammation and tissue damage once the disease is initiated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Shear Behaviour of Adhesive Layers

    Author : Karin Leffler; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Adhersive layer; shear; ENF-specimen; stress-deformation relation; experimental method; J-integral; inverse method; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Teknik; Technology;

    Abstract : An experimental method to determine the complete stress versus deformation relation for a thin adhesive layer loaded in shear is presented. The work is based on a classical specimen geometry, i.e. the end-notch flexure specimen (ENF-specimen) and the experiments are evaluated based on an inverse method. READ MORE
