  1. 1. Endothelial-leukocyte interactions

    University dissertation from Maria Olofsson, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Box 94, S-221 00 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Maria Olofsson; [2000]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Histology; endothelial cell; leukocyte; apoptosis; mitochondria; heparin binding protein; vascular permeability; E-selectin; migration; rolling; cytochemistry; histochemistry; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur;

    Abstract : This thesis describes early inflammatory responses involving interactions between leukocytes and the endothelial lining of the blood vessel wall. An adhesion molecule, E-selectin, which is upregulated on interleukin-1 activated endothelium, was found to mediate rolling between leukocytes and endothelial cells in vivo. READ MORE

  2. 2. Role of adhesion molecules and chemokines in TNF-alpha-induced leukocyte recruitment

    University dissertation from Department of Surgery, Malmö University Hospital, Lund University

    Author : Xiao Wei Zhang; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; intravital microscopy; microcirculation; inflammation; adhesion; leukocyte; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Migration of leukocytes from the circulating blood into the extravascular tissue is a key component in inflammatory reactions. Leukocyte extravasation (rolling-activation-adhesion-transmigration) is strictly coordinated by adhesion molecules and chemokines expressed on cell surfaces and in tissues. READ MORE

  3. 3. Leukocyte responses to pathogens : integrins, membrane rafts and nitric oxide

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Author : Martin Winberg Tinnerfelt; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [2008]

    Abstract : During microbial invasion, leukocytes of the innate immunity are rapidly recruited to the site of infection where they internalize (phagocytose), kill and digest the invaders. To aid this process, leukocytes express surface receptors such as Toll-like receptors, β2-integrins and Fc-receptors. READ MORE

  4. 4. Segmentation of Leukocyte Clusters

    University dissertation from Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Björn Nilsson; [2003]

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  5. 5. On Leukocyte Recruitment in Cholestatic Liver Injury

    University dissertation from Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Matthias Laschke; [2008]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Leukocyte and Liver; Inflammation; Cholestasis; Endothelium;

    Abstract : Cholestasis is a frequent clinical syndrome, which is caused by a dysfunction in bile formation of the hepatocyte or from obstruction of the biliary tract. This is associated with inflammation of the liver tissue, resulting in severe liver injury. In this inflammatory process, leukocyte recruitment has emerged as a key feature. READ MORE
