  1. 1. Advanced polymeric scaffolds for functional materials in biomedical applications

    Author : Kim Öberg Hed; Michael Malkoch; Eric Drockenmuller; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dendrimer; hydrogel; PEG; dendritic monolayers; thiol-ene networks; off-stochiometric;

    Abstract : Advancements in the biomedical field are driven by the design of novel materials with controlled physical and bio-interactive properties. To develop such materials, researchers rely on the use of highly efficient reactions for the assembly of advanced polymeric scaffolds that meet the demands of a functional biomaterial. READ MORE

  2. 2. There Is an Alloy at the End of the Rainbow: Structure and Optical Properties From Bulk to Nano

    Author : Magnus Rahm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thermodynamics; optical properties; dielectric functions; hydrides; alloy cluster expansions; alloys; nanoalloys;

    Abstract : Mixing different chemical species and decreasing dimensions to the nanoscale are two powerful approaches for improving materials. In both cases new properties emerge, and structure, composition, and chemical ordering can be tuned to tailor materials for specific purposes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Functional and Renewable Galactoglucomannan-based Hydrogels

    Author : Jens Voepel; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Ulrica Edlund; Gunnar Henriksson; Margaretha Söderqvist; KTH; []

    Abstract : Polysaccharides represent an important resource for a variety of products, from food via fuel supply to functional materials of every kind. Here they are, due to their natural diversity found in many special applications, e.g. in the biomedical sector. READ MORE

  4. 4. SHAKER ARCHITECTURAL MATERIALS AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

    Author : Erika Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; masonry.; paint; interpretation; Shaker architecture; wood; mortar; conservation; Second Meetinghouse; plaster; The Mount Lebanon Project; authenticity; preservation; Architectural conservation; conservation assessment; Shaker Museum and Library; NARA document; heritage values; lime; feasibility study; craftsmanship; materials analyses; intangible dimensions; Mount Lebanon Shaker Society;

    Abstract : AbstractThis work is an investigation into the state-of-the-art of architectural conservation, from an international and interdisciplinary perspective. It explores issues, methodologies, and tools applicable to heritage resource assessments - from an architectural conservators point of view - and its aim is to generate appropriate approaches, methodologies and tools to holistically assess both the tangible and intangible aspects of significant architecture from the past. 5. 5. Aspects on finite element simulation of sheet metal forming processes

    Author : Ramin Moshfegh; Kjell Mattiasson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sheet metal forming process; Forming Limit Diagram; Metallurgical manufacturing engineering; Metallurgisk produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis has focused on four different aspects of finite element simulation of sheet metal forming processes. Four substantial research areas are the development of a methodology for predicting the limiting strains in connection with the Forming Limit Diagram, the applicable mode of procedure for finite element simulation of the hydromechanical deep drawing process, the adaptive mesh refinement strategy based on gradients of the effective plastic stresses and strains; and the reliability and sensitivity assessments within sheet metal forming processes.
