  1. 21. Surgical ablation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation in different patient populations : A study of clinical outcomes including rhythm, quality of life, atrial function and safety

    Author : Louise Bagge; Carina Blomström-Lundqvist; Mårten Rosenqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; surgical ablation; quality of life; vagal denervation; ganglionated plexi; left atrial function; epicardial; minimally invasive; left atrial ablation; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Abstract : Patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) have markedly reduced quality of life (QoL) and catheter ablation has become a useful tool in the rhythm control therapy. However, because of the poor outcome for patients with persistent AF, new surgical ablation strategies for rhythm control are emerging. READ MORE

  2. 22. Raising the (roll)bar : exploring barriers and facilitators to research translation in US public health

    Author : Pamela J. Tinc; Kristina Lindvall; Lars Weinehall; Julie Sorensen; Paul Jenkins; Per Nilsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; implementation science; research to practice; scale-up; Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research; Proctor taxonomy of implementation outcomes; evidence-based practices; stakeholder engagement; rollover protective systems; tractor overturns; farm safety; occupational safety; injury prevention; Public health; folkhälsa;

    Abstract : Background In public health, implementation science work is crucial to protecting the safety and health of populations. Despite this, such efforts have been extremely limited within the specific public health field of occupational safety and health. READ MORE

  3. 23. Violence through the life cycle : A public health problem

    Author : Niclas Olofsson; Kent Lindqvist; Ingela Danielsson; Staffan Jansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Violence has probably always been part of the human experience. Its impact can be seen, in various forms, in all parts of the world. In 1996, WHO:s Forty-Ninth World Health Assembly adopted a resolution , declaring violence a major and growing public health problem around the world. READ MORE

  4. 24. Performance Indicators. A performance prediction method for moisture safety design

    Author : Veronica Yverås; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Artificial Neural Network; Performance prediction; Moisture safety;

    Abstract : The aims of this research project is to develop and gain knowledge about a different approach to moisture safety design based on AI in order to attain healthy buildings and relate this new approach to current practice and prospective users. Secondary data (data produced for some other purpose) was used to train Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to predict the performance of outdoor ventilated crawl-spaces regarding microbiological smell, mould and rot. 5. 25. Analysis of deep brain stimulation and ablative lesions in surgical treatment of movement disorders : with emphasis on safety aspects

    Author : Patric Blomstedt; Bengt Linderoth; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; deep brain stimulation; pallidotomy; thalamotomy; complications; Parkinson s disease; essential tremor; Clinical Neurophysiology; klinisk neurofysiologi;

    Abstract : Background The last decade has witnessed a renaissance of functional stereotactic neurosurgery in the treatment of patients with movement disorders, especially advanced Parkinson’s disease (PD), essential tremor (ET) and dystonia. Ablative lesions such as thalamotomy and pallidotomy have been gradually replaced by the technique of chronic deep brain stimulation (DBS) applied to targets in the basal ganglia and thalamus, and assumed to be more lenient to the brain than stereotactic radiofrequency lesions.
