  1. 1. The Entheses of the Medial Meniscns and Ligaments of the Knee Joint : Descriptive and Experimental Studies

    Author : Jizong Gao; Michael Benjamin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : knee joint; meniscus; ligaments; insertion; enthesis; quantitative morphology; fibrocartilage; cement line; collagens; proteoglycans; nerve fibres; tensile strength; failure mode; transection; refixation; repair; healing; osteoarthrosis; histology; immunohistochemistry; biomechanics; rabbit model; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Meniscal injuries are common in sports. Surgical removal of the meniscus to relieve symptoms is associated with a high risk for late knee joint osteoarthrosis and pain. Meniscal repair or replacement has therefore been advocated. READ MORE

  2. 2. A sensory role for the cruciate ligaments : regulation of joint stability via reflexes onto the γ-muscle-spindle system

    Author : Per Sjölander; Håkan Johansson; Uwe Windhorst; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Joint afferent; Mechanoreceptor; Cruciate ligament; Fusimotor neuron; reflex; muscle spindle afferent; motor control; cat;

    Abstract : Reflex effects evoked by graded electrical stimulation of the posterior articular nerves (PAN) of the ipsi- and contralateral knee joints were investigated using both micro-electrode recordings from 7 - motoneurones and recordings from single muscle muscle spindle afferents. Spindle afferent responses were also recorded using natural stimulation of different types of receptors, to elucidate if the articular reflexes onto the y -motoneurones were potent enough to significantly alter the muscle spindle afferent activity. 3. 3. Wrist ligaments : innervation patterns and ligamento-muscular reflexes

    Author : Elisabet Hagert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Wrist ligaments; mechanoreceptors; proprioception; sensorimotor functions; neuromuscular control; ligamento-muscular reflexes; immunohistochemistry;

    Abstract : Objectives: The principal role of wrist stability is to facilitate the dexterous hand in a multitude of functions. To achieve joint stability, in general, a fine interaction of both static and dynamic elements is of essence. READ MORE

  4. 4. Clinical and arthroscopic assessment of wrist ligament injuries and instability

    Author : Jonny K Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; wrist; wrist arthroscopy; carpal ligaments; scapholunate ligament; lunotriquetral ligament; triangular fibrocartilage complex; distal radio-ulnar joint; instability; magnetic resonance imaging; forearm rotation torque; children; adolescents;

    Abstract : Wrist ligament injuries are common after trauma, especially when concomitant dislocated radius fractures are present. The diagnostics of scapholunate (SL), lunotriquetral (LT) and triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) injuries are challenging and most often dependent on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination or invasive arthroscopy.
