6. Palladium(0)-Catalyzed Spirocyclization and Carbonylation Reactions : Ligands Targeting the Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor
Abstract : Palladium(0)-catalyzed chemistry represents one of the most important methods for the construction of carbon-carbon bonds, which are ubiquitous in organic compounds. The first part of this thesis describes the palladium(0)-catalyzed diastereoselective Mizoroki-Heck reaction of Vince lactam-derived precursors for the formation of spiroindolines (paper I) and spirooxindoles, which are scaffolds present in several natural products with interesting biological activity. 7. Characterization of Diagnostic Tools and Potential Treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease : PET ligands and BACE1 inhibitors
Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a very complex disorder and the most common form of dementia. The two pathological hallmarks of AD are extracellular amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques in cerebral cortex, and intraneuronal neurofibrillary tangles. READ MORE

8. Activation of CO2 by Palladium Complexes Bearing Tridentate PCP Ligands
Abstract : The present thesis deals with the activation of CO2 by insertion reactions into palladium-carbon bonds. This has been realised for the complexes {2,6-bis[(di-t-butylphosphino)methyl]benzene}palladium(II)methyl [(PCP)PdMe] and (PCP)PdCH2CHCH2. These complexes have also been used in the catalytic carboxylation of ZnMe2 and Bu3SnCH2CHCH2. READ MORE

9. Affibody ligands in immunotechnology applications
Abstract : This thesis describes the development and use ofnon-immunoglobulin affinity proteins denoted affibodies asalternatives to antibodies in different immunotechnologyapplications. A 58 aa IgG Fc binding three-helix bundle domainZ, derived from staphylococcal protein A has been used asframework for library constructions, in which the face of themolecule involved in the native binding activity has beenengineered by combinatorial protein engineering.
