  1. 1. The Statistics of Emission and Detection of Neutrons and Photons

    Author : Andreas Enqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multiplicities; nuclear safeguards; Number distribution; scintillation detectors; light pulse distribution; fissile material; cross correlations;

    Abstract : One particular purpose of nuclear safeguards, in addition toaccounting for known materials, is the detection, identifying and quantifying unknown material, to prevent accidental and clandestine transports and uses of nuclear materials. This can be achieved in a non-destructive way through the various physical and statistical properties of particle emission and detection from such materials. READ MORE

  2. 2. Safeguards: Modelling of the Detection and Characterization of Nuclear Materials

    Author : Andreas Enqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; scintillation detectors; number distribution; nuclear safeguards; cross correlations; light pulse distribution; master equations; multiplicities; ¯ssile material;

    Abstract : Nuclear safeguards is a collective term for the tools and methods needed to ensure nonproliferation and safety in connection to utilization of nuclear materials. It encompasses a variety of concepts from legislation to measurement equipment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Life strategies for substrate assimilation by freshwater bacterioplankton

    Author : Monica Ricão Canelhas; Stefan Bertilsson; Jay T. Lennon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : lake; methane; bacteria; substrate; methanotrophs; pulse; chemostat;

    Abstract : The availability of substrates is one of the most important environmental constraints on the diversity and functioning of microorganisms. Substrate quantity and quality as well as the metabolic features of heterotrophic microorganisms determine the efficiency, speed and type of transformation that can occur in nature. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of the Spin-Orbit Interaction on Transport and Optical Properties of III-V Semiconductor Quantum Wells

    Author : Vladimir Froltsov; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin-orbit interaction; quantum well; III-V; Raman scattering; magnetoresistance; weak localization; spin distribution; magnetic field; Fysik; Physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Froltsov; Halvledarfysik; Semiconductory physics; semiconductor;

    Abstract : Effects of the intrinsic electron spin-orbit interaction on transport and optical properties of III-V semiconductor quantum wells have been studied theoretically. It is shown that due to crystal anisotropy of this interaction, the weak localization magnetoresistance in a magnetic field parallel to interfaces is very sensitive to the epitaxy growth direction and also to the orientation of the magnetic field with respect to the crystal axes. 5. 5. Online optical method for real-time surface measurement using line-of-light triangulation

    Author : Mohammad Anzar Alam; Mattias O'Nils; Jan Thim; Anatoliy Manuilskiy; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Real time paper surface-web measurement is one of the challenging research fields. The traditional laboratory method has many limitations and is unable to measure the entire tambour during the manufacturing process. It has been necessary to develop an online technique that could measure the surface topography in real time. READ MORE
