  1. 1. Process development for investment casting of thin-walled components : Manufacturing of light weight components

    Author : Mohsin Raza; Björn Fagerström; Jarfors Anders; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Investment casting; fluidity; thin sections; porosity; grain structure; turbine blades and Niyama criterion; Innovation and Design; innovation och design;

    Abstract : Manufacturing processes are getting more and more complex with increasing demands of advanced and light weight engineering components, especially in aerospace industry. The global requirements on lower fuel consumption and emissions are increasing the demands in lowering weight of cast components. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure-Control of the Rheological Behaviour of Particulate Gels

    Author : Camilla Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; structure formation; potato amylopectin; structure deformation; rheology; particulate gels; image analysis; beta-lactoglobulin; fracture mechanics; microstructure;

    Abstract : The focus of this thesis is the relation between the rheological and structural properties of mixed particulate gels, based on β-lactoglobulin, determined under both dynamic and static conditions. Rheological characteristics were recorded during formation of the gels, on set gels and during deformation and fracture of the gels, using viscoelastic measurements in shear and in compression and fracture mechanics in tension. 3. 3. Shedding light on glycosylation : Analysis of complex carbohydrates using an affinity biosensor

    Author : Mathias Liljeblad; Bengt Danielsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The main objective during the work described in this thesis has been to develop assays for stodies of complex carbohydrates in a clinical context. Complex carbohydrates, such as free or protein linked oligosaccharides, have been shown to have important biological functions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Laser welding of boron steels for light-weight vehicle applications

    Author : Karl Fahlström; Lars-Erik Svensson; Leif Karlsson; Jens Klaestrup Kristensen; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser welding; boron steel; high strength steels; strength reduction; brittle behavior; crack susceptibility; distortions; light-weight; quality; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Laser beam welding has gained a significant interest during the last two decades. The suitability of the process for high volume production has the possibility to give a strong advantage compared to several other welding methods. However, it is important to have the process in full control since various quality issues may otherwise occur. READ MORE

  5. 5. Application of a Sandwich Construction on a Superstructure of a High Speed Ferry

    Author : Gaurav Ahuja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; catamaran; pitch connecting moment; carbon fibre; natural frequency analysis; light weight structure; structural optimisation.; torsional moment; glass fibre; Sandwich construction; finite element analysis;

    Abstract : Usage of light weight materials has gained momentum in the marine market in the last few decades. This rise has lead to some ships using parts fabricated out of materials like glass and carbon fibre. READ MORE
