1. Supporting evidence-based design using lighting simulations : A framework for lighting simulation of visual comfort in building design
Abstract : This research aims to integrate lighting simulation into the evidence-based design process for achieving improved lighting outcomes in built environments with a particular emphasis on visual comfort analysis in office settings. The objectives of the study include 1) understanding the current usage of lighting simulation tools, learning designers’ experiences' and needs, 2) providing a conceptual framework to integrate the use of lighting simulation in the evidence-based design (EBD) process, 3) testing the usage of the conceptual framework (named EBD-SIM) through two field studies. 2. Lighting Control Systems for Energy Saving and User Acceptance: State-of-the-art and future directions
Abstract : Lighting accounts for one-fifth of global electricity use. In Sweden, energy demand for lighting corresponds to 20% of the total electricity use in office buildings. Lighting retrofit measures are considered to be among the most cost-efficient way to reduce energy use in buildings. READ MORE

3. Dynamics of Energy Systems - Methods of analysing technology change
Abstract : Technology change will have a central role in achieving a sustainable energy system. This calls for methods of analysing the dynamics of energy systems in view of technology change and policy instruments for effecting and accelerating technology change. In this thesis, such methods have been developed, applied, and assessed. READ MORE

4. Magnetooptical properties of dilute nitride nanowires
Abstract : Nanostructured III-V semiconductors have emerged as one of the most promising materials systems for future optoelectronic applications. While planar III-V compounds are already at the center of the ongoing lighting revolution, where older light sources are replaced by modern white light LEDs, fabricating such materials in novel architectures, such as nanowires and quantum dots, creates new possibilities for optoelectronic applications. 5. Thin-film ultraviolet light-emitting diodes realized by electrochemical etching of AlGaN
Abstract : Ultraviolet (UV) light sources have a direct impact on everyone’s life. They are used to sterilize surfaces as well as for water purification. In addition, they are used in green houses to enhance health-promoting substances in plants, for phototherapy to treat skin diseases, for sensing and material curing. READ MORE
