  1. 6. Mapping the human proteome using bioinformatic methods

    Author : Linn Fagerberg; Mathias Uhlén; Alvis Brazma; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proteome; transcriptome; bioinformatics; membrane protein prediction; subcellular localization; protein expression level; cell line; immunohistochemistry; immunofluorescence; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; SRA - Molecular Bioscience; SRA - Molekylär biovetenskap;

    Abstract : The fundamental goal of proteomics is to gain an understanding of the expression and function of the proteome on the level of individual proteins, on the level of defined cell types and on the level of the entire organism. In this thesis, the human proteome is explored using membrane protein topology prediction methods to define the human membrane proteome and by global protein expression profiling, which relies on a complex study of the location and expression levels of proteins in tissues and cells. 2. 7. Realizing High Performance NFV Service Chains

    Author : Georgios P. Katsikas; Dejan Kostic; Gerald Maguire Jr.; Fabian Schneider; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NFV; service chains; profiler; scheduling; multiplexing; synthesis; line-rate; 40 Gbps; NFV; service kedjor; profilering; planläggningsstrategier; syntetiserade; 40 Gbps; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : Network functions (NFs) hold a key role in networks, offering in-network services, such as enhanced performance, policy enforcement, and security. Traditionally, NFs have been implemented in specialized, thus expensive hardware. READ MORE

    Abstract : Link speeds in networks will in the near-future reach and exceed 100 Gbps. While available specialized hardware can accommodate these speeds, modern networks have adopted a new networking paradigm, also known as Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), that replaces expensive specialized hardware with open-source software running on commodity hardware. 4. 9. Antibody-based Profiling of Expression Patterns using Cell and Tissue Microarrays

    Author : Sara Strömberg; Fredrik Ponten; Joakim Lundeberg; Anna Asplund; Stephen Hewitt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Pathology; antibody-based proteomics; tissue microarray; cell line; immunohistochemistry; melanocytes; image analysis; biomarker; Patologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, methods to study gene and protein expression in cells and tissues were developed and utilized in combination with protein-specific antibodies, with the overall objective to attain greater understanding of protein function.To analyze protein expression in in vitro cultured cell lines, a cell microarray (CMA) was developed, facilitating antibody-based protein profiling of cell lines using immunohistochemistry (IHC). 5. 10. In-line rheology of cement grouts - Feasibility study of an ultrasound based non-invasive method

    Author : Mashuqur Rahman; Stefan Larsson; Ulf Håkansson; Thomar Dalmalm; Lars-O Ericsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur;

    Abstract : Grouting is used in underground construction to reduce the water flow into tunnels and caverns and to limit the lowering of the surrounding groundwater table. Due to their wide availability and low cost relative to other materials, cement based materials are commonly used as grouts and, in this context, the rheology of the cement grout is an important factor.
