16. Digital intraoral radiography : determination of technical properties and application evaluations
Abstract : Digital registration of intraoral radiographs was introduced about 1990. One of the first systems on the market was the Sens-A-Ray (Regain Medical Systems AB, Sundsvall, Sweden). At the time of the introduction, it was deemed important to determine basic technical properties for this system. READ MORE

17. Array-based Characterization of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia : - with Focus on Subsets Carrying Stereotyped B-cell Receptors
Abstract : In chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), the presence of multiple subsets expressing ‘stereotyped’ B-cell receptors (BCRs) has implicated antigen(s) in leukemogenesis. These stereotyped subsets display similar immunoglobulin (IG) gene usage, almost identical complementarity determining region 3’s and may share clinical features. READ MORE

18. Interaction Between Drosophila melanogaster mbn-2 Cells and Bacteria
Abstract : Innate immunity relies on a repertoire of germline-encoded non-rearranging pattern recognition receptors that bind to invariant microbial surface molecules. This event initiates a number of signal transduction cascades that lead to humoral and cellular defense responses like synthesis of antimicrobial peptides, phagocytosis and coagulation – mechanisms that efficiently fight infectious microorganisms and have been evolutionary conserved to exist in parallel with the antibody-based adaptive immunity found in vertebrates. 19. Bending, Twisting and Turning : Protein Modeling and Visualization from a Gauge-Invariance Viewpoint
Abstract : Proteins in nature fold to one dominant native structure. Despite being a heavily studied field, predicting the native structure from the amino acid sequence and modeling the folding process can still be considered unsolved problems. In this thesis I present a new approach to this problem with methods borrowed from theoretical physics. READ MORE

20. Single-Proton Irradiation of Living Cells - Development of New Tools for Low-Dose Radiation Research
Abstract : A Single-Ion Hit Facility (SIHF) consists of a custom-build facility based in particle accelerators which offers irradiation controlling the number of delivered particles with a precise targeting localization. The irradiation spot can be confined down to the nanometre scale allowing the irradiation of subcellular compartments with a single particle. READ MORE
