  1. 11. Numerical Methods for Fluid Interface Problems

    Author : Sara Zahedi; Gunilla Kreiss; Ragnar Winther; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns numerical techniques for two phase flowsimulations; the two phases are immiscible and incompressible fluids. Strategies for accurate simulations are suggested. READ MORE

  2. 12. Continuum modeling of paperboard for the mechanical response of converting processes

    Author : Kristofer Robertsson; Hållfasthetslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Paperboard; Continuum modeling; Converting processes; FEM simulations; Finite strain theory; Damage modeling; Rate-dependent; Creasing and folding; Out-of-plane experiments;

    Abstract : Paperboard is a thin and lightweight material made of cellulose fibers and it is an important component in packaging material where it provides stiffness and rigidity. The scope of this work is the development of continuum models, and its numerical treatments, for simulating the processes of converting paperboard into packages. READ MORE

  3. 13. Dynamic Wetting of Solid Surfaces, Influence of Surface Structures and Surface Active Polymers

    Author : Stina Gerdes; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; stick-slip; Wilhelmy plate; block copolymers; surface active polymers; surface channels; spreading; contact angles; dynamic wetting; surface structures; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The effect of surface structures on the dynamics of wetting was investigated through measurements of the dynamic contact angle and spreading velocity of oil droplets spreading over surfaces with parallel and gridlike V-shaped channels. A rim of liquid was observed to spread out in the channels ahead of the dropfront after a short time of spreading (seconds). READ MORE

  4. 14. Smooth particles and exotic strings

    Author : Jan Isberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : During the last few decades quantum gauge field theories in general, and the Electroweak Standard Model in particular, have been very successful in the description of the fundamental constituents of matter and their interactions. However, such models all meet with severe shortcomings, e.g. READ MORE

  5. 15. Timber/Glass Adhesive Bonds for Structural Applications

    Author : Louise Blyberg; Erik Serrano; Kent Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Timber with its natural appearance and glass with its transparency may be appealing material for architects and users of modern buildings. Glass is a brittle material, but it is about six times stiffer than timber. Combined appropriately, the materials could form different types of composite products, e.g. READ MORE
