1. Correlations of Higher Order in Networks of Spiking Neurons
Abstract : The topic of this dissertation is the study of the emergence of higher-order correlations in recurrentlyconnected populations of brain cells.Neurons have been experimentally shown to form vast networks in the brain. READ MORE

2. On Some Symmetric Lightweight Cryptographic Designs
Abstract : This dissertation presents cryptanalysis of several symmetric lightweight primitives, both stream ciphers and block ciphers. Further, some aspects of authentication in combination with a keystream generator is investigated, and a new member of the Grain family of stream ciphers, Grain-128a, with built-in support for authentication is presented. 3. The Dark Side of Decentralized Target Tracking : Unknown Correlations and Communication Constraints
Abstract : Using sensors to observe real-world systems is important in many applications. A typical use case is target tracking, where sensor measurements are used to compute estimates of targets. Two of the main purposes of the estimates are to enhance situational awareness and facilitate decision-making. Hence, the estimation quality is crucial. READ MORE

4. Theoretical perspectives on ultrafast and non-linear spectroscopy
Abstract : In this thesis we discuss a theoretical description of ultrafast and non-linear spectroscopy. Due to the high intensities and ultrashort pulse durations involved in such experiments, it is necessary to use an explicitly time-dependent formalism. READ MORE

5. Structure-Reactivity Correlations for Reactions of Palladium(II) and Platinum(IV) Complexes
Abstract : The kinetics and mechanism for substitution reactions on tetraaquapalladium(II) by an extended series of thioethers, a great number of carboxylic acids, and olefins have been studied by use of UV-VIS, stopped-flow, and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and NMR spectroscopy. Second-order rate constants k and activation parameters (activation enthalpies, entropies, and volumes) for formation of monodentate 1:1 complexes have been determined. READ MORE
