  1. 1. Complement receptor-mediated signal transduction in human neutrophils : A role for protein kinase C in the phagocytic process

    Author : Maria Fällman; Claes B. Wollheim; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The neutrophil granulocyte comprises the first line of human defense against invading microorganisms. A versatile motile machinery enables the cell to migrate to the inflammatory site and there engulf and destroy the pathogens by phagocytosis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Rational redesign of Candida antarctica lipase B

    Author : Anders Magnusson; Karl Hult; Bernhard Hauer; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Candida antarctica lipase B; rational redesign; secondary alcohols; substrate-assisted catalysis; S-selective; entropy; aldolase; stereospecificity pocket; oxyanion hole.; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the use of rational redesign to modify the properties of the enzyme Candida antarctica lipase B. Through carefully selected single-point mutations, we were able to introduce substrate-assisted catalysis and to alter the reaction specificity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Lipase chemoselectivity - kinetics and applications

    Author : Cecilia Hedfors; Karl Hult; Mats Martinelle; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Candida antarctica lipase B; Rhizomucor miehei lipase; active site titration; kinetics; chemoselectivity; thiol; alcohol; thiol-functionalized polyesters; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract :   A chemoselective catalyst is preferred in a chemical reaction where protecting groups otherwise are needed. The two lipases Candida antarctica lipase B and Rhizomucor miehei lipase showed large chemoselectivity ratios, defined as (kcat/KM)OH / (kcat/KM)SH, in a transacylation reaction with ethyl octanoate as acyl donor and hexanol or hexanethiol as acyl acceptor (paper I). 4. 4. Lipase-Catalyzed Syntheses of Telechelic Polyesters

    Author : Magnus Eriksson; Karl Hult; Mats Martinelle; Sergio Riva; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Candida antarctica lipase B; lipase-catalysis; polymerization; telechelic; functional polyesters; ring-opening polymerization; polycondensation.; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Telechelic polyesters have successfully been synthesized with lipase-catalyzed polymerization. The produced telechelics had a high degree of difunctionalization, high purity (requiring little or no workup) and controlled degree of polymerization. The syntheses were performed in one-pot one-step reaction systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Lipase and ω-Transaminase : Biocatalytic Investigations

    Author : Maria Svedendahl; Per Berglund; Stefan Stefan Lutz; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Candida antarctica lipase B; enzyme catalysis; enzyme catalytic promiscuity; molecular modeling; ω-transaminase; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : In a lipase investigation, Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) are explored for enzyme catalytic promiscuity. Enzyme catalytic promiscuity is shown by enzymes catalyzing alternative catalytic transformations proceeding via different transition state structures than normal. READ MORE
