  1. 11. Ruthenium-catalyzed redox reactions and lipase-catalyzed asymmetric transformations of alcohols

    Author : Michaela Edin; Jan-E. Bäckvall; Manfred T. Reetz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ruthenium; lipase; catalysis; alcohols; diols; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The major part of this thesis describes the synthesis of enantiopure alcohols and diols by combining ruthenium-catalyzed redox reactions that lead to racemization or epimerization and lipase-catalyzed asymmetric trans-formations in one-pot.A mechanistic study of the unexpected facile formation of meso-diacetate products found in enzyme-catalyzed acetylations of alkanediols with Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) was first performed. 2. 12. Exploring Conjugate Addition Activity in Pseudozyma antarctica Lipase B

    Author : Maria Svedendahl; Per Berglund; Olof Ramström; Amelie Eriksson Karlström; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Candida antarctica lipase B · conjugate addition · enzyme catalysis · enzyme catalytic promiscuity · molecular modeling; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Multifunctional enzymes have alternative functions or activities, known as “moonlighting” or “promiscuous”, which are often hidden behind a native enzyme activity and therefore only visible under special environmental conditions. In this thesis, the active-site of Pseudozyma (formerly Candida) antarctica lipase B was explored for a promiscuous conjugate addition activity. READ MORE

  3. 13. Lipase catalysed reactions of terpenoids : formation of hemiacetal esters : resolution of cryptone and its transformation to cadinenes

    Author : Dan Isaksson; Fredrik Almqvist; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; terpenoid; lipase; resolution; hemiacetal; hemiacetal ester; enantioselective; synthesis; cryptone; cadinene; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : During attempted enzyme-catalysed resolution of sterically hindered secondary alcohols, hemiacetals and their esters were unexpectedly detected. Hemiacetal esters are reactive compounds that decompose to alcohol, aldehyde and acid under ordinary work-up conditions i.e. in contact with water, acid, or silica gel. READ MORE

  4. 14. Hormone-Sensitive Lipase and Protein Kinase B; Molecular characterization in testis, adipose tissue and pancreatic beta cells

    Author : Lena Stenson; Signaltransduktionsforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; signal transduction; pancreas; beta cells; adipocyte; insulin; Akt; protein kinase B; spermatogenesis; cholesterol esterase; hormone-sensitive lipase; testis; cAMP; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Abstract : Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) and protein kinase B (PKB) are enzymes that in different ways are associated with lipid metabolism. While HSL is the well-known lipolytic enzyme responsible for hydrolysis of stored triacylglycerols in adipose tissue, PKB is a recently identified serine/threonine protein kinase, ubiquitously expressed and involved in signal transduction pathways induced by insulin and growth factors. 5. 15. Engineering of Candida antarctica Lipase A and B

    Author : Johanna Löfgren; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In organic chemistry, it is often desirable to have an efficient process yieldingpure product and not too much waste. When applicable, it is also desirable tohave a high enantioselective outcome. Enzymes are often displaying high regio-,chemo- and stereoselectivity. READ MORE
