21. Formation of Mesoporous Materials and their use as Lipid Bilayer Supports
Abstract : Mesoporous materials have acquired great scientific interest in various applications; something that is largely due to that their properties, such as pore size, pore orientation, material composition and surface chemistry, can be controlled to a large extent. One idea, which has been investigated in this thesis, is to use mesoporous materials as supports for lipid bilayers and by doing so fabricate devices that mimic the cell wall and at the same time has sufficient mechanical robustness for practical use. 22. Interorganellar connectivity : From protein to lipid homeostasis
Abstract : Interorganellar connectivity is fundamental for the maintenance of organellar and cellular functionality and viability. This is achieved and maintained by a complex network of signaling cascades, vesicle trafficking between organelles as well as by establishment of direct physical contact at membrane contact sites (MCS). 23. Fluorescence microscopy studies of interactions between monomeric α-Synuclein and lipid membranes
Abstract : α-Synuclein (α-Syn), is an intrinsically disordered protein present in the substantia nigra part of the brain. α-Syn is commonly known to associate with lipid membranes containing anionic lipids. READ MORE

24. Interaction of Calcium Ions with Lipid Membranes
Abstract : Bilayer membranes enclose and shield the biological cell and its inner compartments, as well as the tubular networks that exist within and between the cells. Due to their fluidic nature, the membranes are incredibly dynamic and flexible, which allows them to bend, reshape and fuse in response to mechanical and chemical stimuli within their natural microenvironments. 25. Biophysical Studies of Apolipoprotein A-IM and a Partitioning study
Abstract : The major part of this thesis deals with the similarities and differences in some biophysical properties of apolipoprotein A-I (apo A-I) and the molecular variant apolipoprotein A-IMilano (apo A-IM), and the influence on lipid binding. A model compound partitioning study has also been performed. READ MORE
