  1. 21. Production of high quality 11C beams for radiation treatment and accurate PET-CT dose delivery verification

    Author : Marta Lazzeroni; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Radiation therapy with external beams of positron emitter light ions offers the optimal solution for simultaneously treating and in vivo monitoring the delivery of the dose in 3D with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) or PET-Computed Tomography (CT) imaging. Specifically, positron emitter light ion beams merge the main distinctive advantages of light ion therapy, namely a high conformal and biological effective dose delivery to the tumor, an optimal penumbra, and sparing of the surrounding normal tissues, with the advantage of a high β+-activity signal mainly produced directly by the beam itself, and therefore not primarily dependent on the specific stoichiometry of the body tissues. 2. 22. Studies of the nuclear processes of proton capture photon production and spallation neutron emission with advanced experimental techniques

    Author : Johan Thun; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A series of nuclear reaction experiments have been performed in the intermediate energy range up to 1.6 GeV using advanced techniques to detect and measure neutral ejectiles resulting mainly from proton bombardment of both light and heavy nuclei. READ MORE

  3. 23. Study of bio-oil and bio-char production from thermal and catalytic hydrotreatment of simulated pyrolysis oil under mild conditions

    Author : Elham Nejadmoghadam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stabilization; soluble solid; alumina-supported catalyst; insoluble solid char; simulated pyrolysis oil; catalytic hydrotreatment;

    Abstract : Pyrolysis oil derived from fast pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass is a promising alternative energy source used to produce renewable biofuels. However, the high reactivity of unsaturated oxygenated compounds in pyrolysis oil results in charring and deactivation of the catalyst under severe hydrotreatment conditions. READ MORE

  4. 24. A study of the autogenous Hydrogen-DRI slag and its impact on the dephosphorization of fossil-free steel at different oxygen potentials

    Author : Joar Huss; Pär Jönsson; Du Sichen; Niklas Kojola; Chris Pistiorius; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The present study comprises aspects related to the phosphate capacity, the dephosphorization of fossil-free steel, and the utilization of potential by-products. The focus is mainly given to the functions and impact of the autogenous H-DRI slag in the dephosphorization process and the possibility for future slag valorization. READ MORE

  5. 25. On the effect of nitrogen, hydrogen and cooling rate on the solidification and pore formation in Fe-base and Al-base alloys

    Author : Advenit Makaya; Hasse Fredriksson; Zhongyun Fan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Porous metals; Metal foams; Gas solubility; Fe-base alloys; Al-base alloys; M7C3 carbides; Al3Ti; Al3Fe; Rapid solidification; Metastable phases; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Experiments on the production of porous metallic materials were performed on Fe-base and Al-base alloys. The method involves dissolution of gases in the liquid state and solidification at various cooling rates. The alloy compositions were selected to induce solidification of primary particles intended to control the pore distribution. READ MORE
