11. Lipid-based liquid crystals as drug delivery vehicles for antimicrobial peptides
Abstract : The development of antimicrobial resistance is a great challenge within health sectors worldwide. Thus, demand for new, efficient treatments is urgent in order to treat various bacterial infections. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are a group of antibiotics that have gained more and more attraction in the past decade. READ MORE

12. Diluent and Solvent Effects in Liquid-Liquid Extraction Systems based on bis-triazine-bipyrididine (BTBP)-class Ligands
Abstract : Used nuclear fuel taken directly from a reactor is radiotoxic for mankind and its environment for a long time. One of the major contributions to the long time radiotoxicity is the presence of a group of elements called the actinides. READ MORE

13. Aroma and Flavor in Liquid Beet Sugar Processing
Abstract : Production of liquid beet sugar, a product of increasing importance for the food industry, involves many different compounds exhibiting aroma. Aroma compounds are introduced with the raw material, the sugar beets, but also formed as a result of sugar degradation (caramelization and Maillard reaction) or by contamination from process steps, such as adsorbents and ion exchangers. 14. Structure formation at solid/liquid interfaces : Understanding self-assembly and environmental challenges
Abstract : The work described in the present dissertation has explored the structure of particles and molecules at solid/liquid interfaces, aiming to understand the physics of self-organizing systems and use this knowledge to address some environmental issues. Surface-sensitive neutron scattering techniques, such as reflectometry and grazing incidence small angle scattering, have been used as the primary tool to investigate structures in proximity to an interface. 15. Liquid Crystalline SIloxane Dimers - Advanced Materials with Enhanced Properties
Abstract : The liquid crystal state is a complex state with many kinds of different molecular attractive and repulsive forces that results in various kinds of phases. Since the pioneering works by Vorländer in the early 20th century, liquid crystal research has to a great extent been depending on careful systematic studies of the structure/property relationships in series of similar liquid crystalline materials.
